850t timing
« on: April 09, 2024, 08:10:04 AM »
Hello all. I have installed new points on my 1975 850t and am looking for some noob friendly info on setting them correctly. I have not done any engine timing work and am having difficulty finding any easily digestible info on the topic.

Doing this mod to the points plate will really help getting the timing spot on.

I've found it's not always necessary. Both my Convert and Cal III didn't need any modification.

Here is thread with a link to a manual (I did not see what it was linked to) and some other advice that might help. I always get confused by the stamped marks on the flywheel. But setting the point gap is easy. It’s the timing that gets wonky. I can take pics of my manual if you want.
