The answer is probably "we are too ugly for LA and too dumb for NY"

Shamelessly borrowed from Phil and Brent , the creators of Roy D Mercer .

I was toying with the idea of wandering along west US60 (since it's just down the way from my house) for this year's road trip (in addition to the Cavalier, ND Ride-In :thumb:). This sounds perfect! Likely will take the Kawasaki. Haven't yet stretched her legs on a meaningful road trip since purchased.

It does not matter WHAT you ride...as long as you just SHOW UP!  It's a really FUN gathering! :thumb:

Can you imagine the crap I had to listen to the first year that I showed up on my Victory Vision?!?

Point taken....I'm sure I can't begin to imagine the comments.:whip2: (I always thought the aesthetics of the Vision were an excellent touring bike interpretation. Heck, now I could even take the F6B if I wanted to!)
Thanks for posting the rally details.

What’s the name of the campground again?  I wouldn’t want to be shut out there too.

You won't be shut out..as the Eagle's Nest Campground is quite huge...No worries if you are camping.

The Motel only has 8 rooms...and they sell out every year quickly.

This is the group from 2019..."CAMP VORTEX!!"

Snagged a room at the Largo. FWIW, the lady there mentioned that an energy company doing work in that area may still be using 12 of their 20 rooms. If you're a non-camping woose like me, you may want act sooner than later. Quemado seemed a better choice than Magdalena for (paved) riding options.

Just got a room at the Largo motel for the rally. If you’re not camping , then make your reservation soon . Not much else around there. It fills up with workers and hunters. Good cafe. Premium gas across the street. Datil only has 86 octane. Go figure!

Because of COVID and last year was a total BUST, I predict this year there will be 75+ Guzzi's riding to this event. :thumb:  :boozing:

Many people have now been fully vaccinated, and want to get on with their lives, as the clock is ticking... :thumb: :thumb:

Seriously looking at going to this.  Can't all the time off that I wanted for the National.

Hi Tom - Since last year was a TOTAL BUST, this year, there will be at least 3-4 of us bike camping from Vortex-Land, and I suspect another 3-4 riding up from the Phoenix area... :thumb: :boozing:

I will be there  :thumb:

I'm sorry to correct you, JJ but the "Eagles Nest" is in Magdalena, not Datil.
The signs are very nearly identical but the rally is at the Eagle RV Park and Campground.

Pie Town has at least one cafe open and serving breakfast.  The Pie-O-Neer is closed for the moment but a recent notice made it sound like their re-opening is imminent.
No masking or distancing is required for the Eagle store, restaurant, or campground.  The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner at this time.
There are motels in Magdalena and Socorro for those interested in that sort of accommodations.
Unfortunately, the VLA remains closed.
Looking forward to it!

I will probably not attend, but there's a slim chance.

If I do go, it will likely be a ride out on Saturday for dinner and then overnight at the Largo, and back on Sunday. 600 miles each way, not too bad.

And if I do go, it will almost certainly be on a bike that no one would ever expect to see me ride...

Probably Won't attend the rally, but I will be traveling to Datil tomorrow and Plan to camp there for the next 3 days. This is my old stomping grounds. Will camp at the BLM campground; great place, one of my favorites, have camped there many times. Some of you rally attendees might consider staying there
