Personally, I think it's a VERY cool motorbike.

It's too bad that it's already overpriced at $4500........

If the price didn't go any higher, it might still be tempting with the
rebuilt motor and receipts. Typically the bidding goes through the
roof the last few days on BAT; and this one ain't a $10k motorsickle.....

Are you kidding, with all that "patina"? It takes years to build that up.

Looks pretty crusty to me, at least there are receipts fir the motor and transmission overhaul. A friend of mine bought a 1968 R69S last year, cosmetics are very nice but no history if the driveline has been serviced, he is a bit disappointed with it, not much power, he finds the handling a bit weird and it can be a bigger to start if it even gets a sniff of potentially being close to flooded. I have not ridden it but hope to this summer, I bet my Eldorado is a much nicer bike to ride.

A /2 is a /2 is a /2.....   This bat bike looks like a fine patina bike.  If it had bright shiny paint instead if the haggard silver tank and faded black paint, folks here would be slobbering while they watched the price would go ^^^^.  But it would still be a /2..  Paint don't win races.  That's why MG painted some race bikes with zinc chromate primer.

When I complained about how slow my bike was, Tim in VT told me that riding a /2 is a state of mind.  If you compare one to other bikes that actually go fast when you twist the throttle, you're missing the point.  It's about consistent inertia/momentum-based motion and flow, kinda like tai chi..  Speed is irrelevant.  It is what it is.  I wanted my R69S to be as thrilling as my V7 Sport because it was the sport model and looked SO cool.  Nope.  It is what it is.  Compared to a good Guzzi, It's apples and oranges

This look so like decent bike, especially with the rare big tank.  Why people think an auction stalls several days from the finish date escapes me.  That rarely happens because that's not how auctions work.

I had an R50/2 when I lived in Ct. It was a fine bike for riding around NE at a relaxed pace. When I moved to Colo thabks to Uncle Sam, it was not so hot. With wide open spaces, high altitude, high passes and much higher speeds it was a terrible bike. I put down a deposit on the first R75/5, much better.

Looks filthy and unloved to me.

But then again, it DOES have a new fuel line. That's sexy!
