Author Topic: Just bought a stable of old Guzzis...any resources for valuation? (Read 11176 times)

I impulse bought 5 guzzis to add to my collection. 2 850T crusty parts bikes, 2 1970 Ambassadors (one rough the other almost restored-ish), and one 1968 V700 that is rough and some of it are in boxes.

I have had a hard time finding out what the value is of the V700 and the nicer Ambassador. I plan to sell these as I blew all of my fixin money on buying them. All I wanted was the one Ambassador (the rough one), and the parts bikes as they were cheap. So, I need to get some money back to fix the others.

Any info on how to properly value these would be great. Sites about such would be even better. I could find nothing.

"A picture is worth a thousand words". Photos will help us help you. Wildguzzi might be about the best place to get valuations, but they'll likely be a pretty broad range due to the varied "personalities" here. ;D

The 700's are starting to come around, used to be no one wanted them. I got my 3 in the early 90's when everyone wanted restored Eldo's & Ambo's.

Oh ya, fun fact, no titles on these. I can get them titled, but do not have in hand. The 850Ts will likely never see the road again. Too much work. The V700 will eventually get restored if I dont sell it. The white Ambo is to be titled soon.

New wire harness on the V700.

As for low ball, as long as it reflects what I paid for them (probably reasonable) then I am in. I am not looking to make a fortune in any way. I want some of my inventory gone and money for parts. Thats it.

There's a lot that isn't V700 on the V700. V700 should be right foot shift, left brake and have the smaller/slimmer/taller tank. Taillight bracket is later, mufflers look like 850-T.

Wow, this is why I come here. Good info on the V700. I dont know anything about them other than what is on CycleGardens web site.

Those of you interested in parts or wholes, feel free to contact me with offers. I need money to finance my other projects. I still have my T3 cafe sitting on the lift. I'll contact those of you that have expressed interest :)

850-T rear drive will have 8/37 (4.625:1) gears vs. the 7/33 (4.714:1) set in a T3 and the older "deep sump" housing.

Unlike BMWs, the ratio is not stamped into the housing.

Forgot one other important detail: the 850-T rear drive pinion carrier flange is 2mm thinner than that of the T3. What this means is the 850-T swingarm would need to be used or a 2 mm thick shim/spacer fabricated to fit between the 850-T rear drive and T3 swingarm.

In my locality a guy sold a couple 850s last winter for $2500 each. They were riders with titles and in good original condition. The parts bike would be lucky to go for $500, a title would help. I don't know about the 700 but in the present condition it would be hard to sell, it probably wouldn't bring over a few hundred bucks. An Ambassador sold last summer in this area for somewhere between $3000 and $4000, it was original in fair condition. Good luck.

Honestly, without titles all you have is some parts bikes.

Even with titles, there is a lot needing done on them.

The paint on the white one is pretty nice, but has some chips that were touched up. It is in no way original paint.

As for the price for the two crusty 850Ts, I already have a significantly larger offer than $500. The rear drives and some other parts go for way more than that based on the PM feedback I have gotten.

I am looking into shipping quotes for two parties interested in the white Ambo, so that is nice. :)

I have heard of Eldomike and may reach out to him if it makes my job easier and I can still get a good price for this stuff. Not having to ship is very nice, but shipping is not that big of a deal.

Just for a reference of my mechanical abilities, here is my current T3 cafe project. It has been stalled for about a year or more due to other things and the fact that I could not decide how I wanted it painted. Now, I have decided to assemble, ride, and then figure out what I want. At that point I will disassemble and paint.

Built engine from crank up, balance, big bore, twin plugged :)
