G5 exhaust options
« on: January 20, 2015, 12:56:27 PM »
The exhaust on my G5 is really beat. Not rust but the chrome is burnt and there is a small hole in the base of one otherwise nice muffler. I assume that these are chromed steel so no nice welding repairs would come out looking good. I have seen the stuff available at online stores mistral etc, but can not find Bub for sale anywhere online with a listing for this bike. Any good suggestions?

John

Bub stopped making Guzzi mufflers years ago.

IIRC, MAC makes a set of mufflers for that model or ones that could be made to work easily enough.

I installed a pair of inexpensive Emgo 27" mufflers on a customer's Convert and they worked and sounded quite nice. I did fabricate better brackets than those supplied with the mufflers.

I can vouch for the Valteks. I know a guy with a set on a G5. Fit perfectly, look good and sund great. Not loud, just a bit deeper sound.

The Valtek is a 3" diameter muffler with a repackable baffle with a 1' ID core.

If you want stainless steel Keihan System in the U.K. builds OEM replicas for about $418 per pair (at today's exchange rate).  Freight (about three days - you don't have any choice) is about $78 (or was to my door in Texas).

I would like to know more about these! Do you have photos and contact info?

I am building a stainless exhaust for my race bike and the thought occurred to me that I might save money making one for the guzzi. The bends are not cheap but it would be interesting to try to build a nice 2-1 system. Things to ponder

I've also thought of a 2-1 system as I think they do perform better, but the duals... they look so cool!
