I to think the 1000s are the best looking of all stock Guzzi's. I would love to have more information on the cafeish seat pictured above.

I think that is even prettier than my LM3.

I also have a LM3, but have always had a soft spot for these.  Throw in an Eldorado, and I'd be set.

Just to add some mystery, I have an Orange/Black wire wheeled one dated 1991 with the VIN 200001.

According to records I have seen it should be the earliest made of the US bound bikes in that year, but I don't have a clue how it got to the UK.
It was first registered here in 1994.

Currently it is short of it's original seat and wearing an LM 1 rubber one instead.

It's 93 and Moto America has a new big valve green 1000S on the floor. I am ready to drop my dime on it without even a ride. So I take it for a ride and the ergonomics kill. The pegs are nearly 2 inches further back than the Mille and the swan neck bars are just a killer. I ride home like I lost the love of my life. Now I realize all I had to do was change the position of the shifter/brake mechanism and had some aluminum billet risers custom made and different bars and I got me a 1000S.
Why didn't I think of it then?

Thought I'd share an updated pic. I acquired a Bub exhaust last year from an inmate here.
Really makes a big different in the overall power.

Mine has ~ 130.000 km on the clock, 2.serie.
I'm the second owner since 2000, VIN is VV 50797.
At the moment she's on the lifting ramp and  get's new brake discs and tires.

Last year the engine got new rod bearings, pistons rings and a Scola camshaft, as well as a K&N filter.
Together with a lighter flyweel, a digital ( Sachse) ignition and other mufflers it's running perfectly now.

Here is an European 1000 S register : http://www.1000s.nl/register.html

Very nice example Kai, I really like your seat too.
What brand of mufflers might those be?

Nope, not even close to a Daytona or a Sporti.  And with the bars all the way up the tubes it really isn't that bad of a position.

Thank you Sir............ I was hoping some one would say that.
Any advice on what to look for( read stay away from ) when pursuing one of these would be much appreciated.

Ciao

Not much goes bad on these bikes. The voltage regulator is a known problem(93 model)from new which isn't a big deal, the front forks are weak and I installed Wirth springs which helped but Fac's would be better. The 91's had problems with the Akront rims splitting between nipples so look for that if your considering the one in Chicago. That bike also has the aftermarket header crossover so look for damage to the front fender due to excessive dive on the front end. Oh, and the 93 has the Digiplex ignition module which gave some a problem but it has never been an issue on my bike. The 91's have points.

Thank you  ;D

The seat is original, just the front end is shortened. This mod was already made by the first owner, I liked it from the first moment on, it simply looks better and underlines the long, stretched appearance. The mufflers where NOS on Ebay, appx. 10 years ago. They came with an english info sheet, basically telling that the carb jetting has not to be modified, not much more. I mean to remember the brand name BSM, which still exists http://www.bsm-exhausts.com/, but they dont have these mufflers anymore...

Ciao,
Kai
