The picture I posted on page one was Nevada, too. A little south of 50.. 6, and every bit as lonely.

The UK is a bit small to find any truly lonely roads, but there are some up on the moors of Weardale/Teesdale/Alston that perhaps qualify.  Riding vintage machinery alone along these roads has you thinking of how you'd manage, if the need ever arose, to fit a new set of points in the dark!

River Road south of Big Bend National Park

Nice!  In some guidebooks, listed as the best scenic road in Texas.  Have enjoyed it on trips to Big Bend...a wonderful desolate place!

Coming into the last few opportunities to ride before winter sets in. Roads are clear and unpopulated.... pretty too.

I agree. US 50 advertises itself as the Loneliest Highway, but Hwy 6 from Ely to Tonopah is lonelier than The Loneliest Highway; 167 miles of no signs of civilization, other than the highway itself.

One might argue that that goes for all roads in North America

Other than southern Utah, I don't even want to remember where this 15 mile stretch of sand and gravel was......

Taken a couple of years ago, just before I swapped it for the Magni.  It was becoming an insurance liability!

This was taken today coming back across the Hay plains, possibly the most boring road in Oz. In parts of it you can actually see the curvature of the earth from ground level!

Having said that Jude and I stayed in Hay last night at a lovely motel and there is a pleasant, almost Zen like pleasure in travelling in 'Companionable Silence!' through as low moving landscape that has been comparatively unchanged in eons. There again after thirty five years of marriage perhaps we just hate talking to each other so any reason to shut up is a good one! :D

The purpose of this little jaunt was far more serious though! We have arrived back in Bungendore with a vast quantity of great McClarren Vale red wine and a years supply of horseradish! Who lives better than us! One of the Reds is going to be a 'Knock yer Block Off' in a couple of years time I reckon and at $130 a case...........

Can't find photos of my Triumph Bonneville on the Extraterrestial Highway (NV 375).
It goes ~ 98 miles from Crystal Springs (no fuel) to Warm Springs (ghost town).
Fueling in Ash Springs is ~160 miles to Tonopah for next fuel stop.

Photos below are not exactly highway, but on this trip I never saw another vehicle.
