V7 scrambler exhaust on V7 III
« on: April 12, 2019, 08:36:23 PM »
I'm seeing some very attractively priced V7 II scrambler exhausts for sale that are about 1/3 the price of a new V7 III scrambler set. Just how different are the systems? I found one thread that said the rear mount won't match but what else? Are the exhaust ports/positions different? I saw this bike long before the III pipe came out...

Over on guzzitech, Todd said it is a ton of work.  I assume you read stuff there too, but Todd makes custom exhaust, so when he says it will take a lot of work I would back away.

The tilt of the motor has changed, so if you assumed none of the mounts would fit (not sure if you'd get lucky and some would), and the tilt thing, and I'm not sure about the way they fit into the exhaust port ... same size there?  But anyway, the tilt might mean bending pipes.  So if you can bend pipes, cut off mounting tabs, weld on mounting tabs you might be good to go.

There are a couple of systems now that are made for the V7 iii (zard and arrow) .  You might try calling AF1 up and begging for a discount.  Gotta be a reasonable margin on a $1800 exhaust system.

Ah yes - I forgot about the engine being re-positioned and tilted differently. Probably a ton of work as Todd suggested. The scrambler pipe looks cool but not worth the effort and cost at this point. I'll be patient and wait for prices to drop a bit.
