He will suck in that gas tank causing it to collapse at some point and you will be lucky to not lose the man parts in the process.

I'm not buying into this smiley face PC campaign for that little black sucking canister.

STOP with the gas tank suck.  Steel tanks will not shrivil up like a raisen because of the evap cannister.

You've got a real problem.

You have little elves living in your shop with WAY WAY too much time on their hands.   I predict real mischief coming next.

Find them something more useful to do!!   :D

I have an extra decal and it's yours if you want it Kev. Just PM me your address and I'll drop it in the mail. It's a Black on White one from those crazy kids at See See Motor Coffee. As for sucking in my metal tank, if my little EVAP can do that to my man parts I'll be wearing a smiley face!

Since we're on the topic -- does anyone have a map of the tubing for the twin evap cans as found on the Jackal?  I'm plumbing in my trike's fuel tanks this week and want to get the venting sorted and I have lent out my book.

Exactly.  :)

I'm using a pair of steel jerry cans for fuel on the trike.  They need venting, especially with the efi and dual tank switching.  It seems silly to not do it right.

Do you have or need the original Jackal EVAP canisters?

Because Jon (BlackBuell) should still have the low mileage ones I took off mine (like took off at 1k).

And since that Jackal is totaled I would imagine he'd part with them.

Thanks, but for now I'm using the ones that were on the EV before I started the trike conversion.  I was in a hurry stripping the frame and didn't take the time to draw the map when I cut the hoses.  The routing wasn't as empirical as I thought it would be.

Cannisterectomy may be something like removing an appendix "while we're in there". Then you won't need a decal to cover it up.
This video was made for beemers but can we too be getting activated carbon in our fuel filters and injectors?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H907BjGC0Pc

I never bothered to cut open the fuel filter on my EV when I changed it.

Anybody see any Evap cannister stuff in the filter?

Except it's not like an appendix -- It's more like a kidney.  It has a purpose.   :beat_horse

You got to ride the bike for that to happen and get some serious miles on one to find stuff like that in the filter.

The bike  (now trike ) in question has what , at least 50K miles on it . Your argument does not hold up .

Since you've already explained that you're not educated in these technologies and that even when given the material you won't read it on account of it's boring, you're not prepared to discuss it.  Some day I'll explain to you what serious riding is.  Until then, please keep your ignorance to yourself.  Thanks.

I'll be sure to humble myself in your presence sir. I'll start by trying to read Bob the oil guy all the way through. Then make arrangements to go visit you so you can teach me how to ride properly. If you have a spare room and good chow, I'll be sure to not make a pest out of myself during the visit. I'll even wash the bike and take the trash out. Fair trade for the training.

???

How would anything from the EVAP canister get inside the fuel lines?

The CANISTER receives vapers from the tank.

When the bike is running, fresh air is pulled through the canister removing those vapors from the charcoal elements and drawing them into the AIR INTAKE and into the combustion chamber to be burned as part of the air/fuel mixture.

But the majority of the FUEL charge is introduced separately by the injectors RIGHT before the intake valve.

The vapors never get back into the fuel only circuit, and THAT'S where the fuel filter is, well before those injectors.

Maybe he hooked the lines up wrong. Could be the gas is going through that canister before it goes into the fuel injectors. Makes sense to me. ;-T

Keep your EVAP can happy! Don't throw him out, stop the abuse!

Hey, what's he got to smile about? Talk about the shallow end of the engineering gene pool - he's the most loathed component on the bike and goes about smiling like some slack-jawed idiot.

No, not in any way shape or form.

That's just NOT how the system works.

Maybe this was too detailed.

Here's a simple explanation.

There's an AIR INTAKE SUPPLY and a FUEL INTAKE SUPPLY.

They meet at the intake valves in the manifold.

The EVAP canister is part of the AIR INTAKE SUPPLY.
