Does the hole/oil passage in the side of the connecting rod go up/away from oil pan? I did not note this during disassembly and the manual says to follow "disassembly directions in reverse" when installing rods.
Following disassembly instruction in reverse did not happen I can assure you.

Yes, on the high side.

The machined sides of both con rod faces the right side of the bike as your sitting on the bike.
Been that way since the 70's.

Both sides of the rods are machined. One side does have a code number for matching up caps. On the opposite side of the oil passage hole. Now that I think about it, the code was down and could be seen from the open oil pan, making the hole on top.
Thanks for the help.
