I am diving into my newly acquired 98 Centauro and have a few questions. Probably the first of many.
A picture before I start.

1) I need to do a bit or repair to the front sub-wiring harness.
Rather than electrical tape are there any recommendations for the best tape or sheathing for the harness?
At one point in time there was an issue with the ground wire from pin J in the 10 pin AMP connector and a previous owner reworked the grounding circuit with 3 10/12 gauge wires to various points.
Pin J (ground) is somewhat damaged and the black wire is cut. This seems like a small wire for what was a ground for many things.
There was also a couple of cut wires to the voltage regulator (red and red/blk). I may cut out the crimp connectors and solder and heat shrink for a repair.
There is proper continuity to all the wires, so I just want to basically clean it up and was thinking someone might have a few tips on this.
Also any comments on the ground repair external of the harness?

2) I would like to relocate the fuel pump to under the tank on top of the spine. Has anyone done this? The air box is gone so there is a lot of room.
3) The foil/glass mat insulation under the tank has all come off and needs to be repaired and reattached. I was going to use foil tape for aircon/heat duct work for the repair.
What is the best way to attach/glue it back to the tank underside?

What is the pin with the small hole in it for? It faces to the front and is on the left side of the bike. See bottom of picture. There is not one on the right side.

I replaced the tank insulation with Thermo-tec adhesive aluminized panels. 12 x 24 is the best size, available on Amazon. Use the old ones as templates, trim the edges with aluminized hvac tape. Mine turned out great.
I don’t solder wiring connections because the edge of the solder can create a sort of hinge that creates a place for fatigue failure. I use solderless crimp terminals, and cover the terminal/wire joint with shrink wrap.
I thought about relocating the fuel pump, but didn’t. Let us know if you come up with a good relocation.
There’s a lot of Centauro knowledge on this board, so don’t hesitate to ask. Have you replaced the belts yet?

Have you been here yet http://www.centauro-owners.com/forum.html (http://www.centauro-owners.com/forum.html) ?

dxhall,
Thanks for the tip on the heat shield. I have located it on Amazon.
Do you have to worry about fatigue with solder if it is in a place where it will not be flexing?
There is a lot of room in the area above the spine down towards the shock mount. I may make a bracket to hold the pump there.

Turin,
Thanks, I have looked there quite a bit. It is not a very active forum these days, but still a lot of good info.
I got the timing belt cover off. I was told the belts had been done not many miles ago. It looks to me like I may have to do a seal on the left cam tower.

I moved my pump under the tank. plenty of room on the right side. I think I just zip tied it to the frame with some foam in between.

I used velcro straps to hold in my Breva battery when I relocated it and that works good.
Zip ties to the frame is an option.
Thanks

Originally had a cable & hitch pin clip to lock the helmet to the bike. From the owner's manual:

The Centauro came with a tool kit but no owners manual.
I would have never guessed what that pin was for, but would have always wondered. Thanks
