Title: C1400 tank side cover removal
Post by: DaddyRabbit on April 06, 2019, 12:31:00 PM
ok folks, i'm stuck trying to get the side covers off the tank on the C1400.  the front and rear allen screws are out, now there seems to be some sort of binding right behind the guzzi eagle on the tank side covers that won't let go.  what am i missing?

If one must remove the cover, which is unnecessary to just remove the tank, here's what I understand is the method. Take a piece of dental floss and cut through the sticky material holding the eagle in place. Remove the badge and remove the nuts or screws holding the cover on.  However do your own research as I do not want to tell you something wrong and cause damage.  Good luck!

That eagle has a couple clips under the edges of the wings. The dental floss is also to try, (TRY), to flex the eagle enough to get the plastic clip to release. If someone is determined to remove it, it is prudent to have spares in case you break them. As you can see, there is a left and right. IIRC they are about 17 bucks each.  Like Dan said, no real need to remove the side covers for any reason than to remove the side covers.
