Living in the desert these days, and I ride a lot of graded dirt roads. Was wondering about folks choices for dual sport tires to fit an Eldorado. Really any experience with early big twin Guzzis using 2.15"x18" wheels would be appreciated.
Is there a reasonable source for the GoldenTyres that come on the v-7 stornello in this country? Anyone use Michelin Anakee Wilds?
Thanks,
Mike

I'd slap a set of Shinko 244 in 3.00 x 18 and ride like the wind. At $33 per tire they are affordable and the wear decent well and have good road manners.

Did you mean 4.10-18? Even that size is rather narrow, 244s seem to "run small". I was running a 4.60-18 on the rear of my XT500.
With a recommendation from Nick Adams, I bought a set of 4.00-18 Duro HF308s for my V700 "Tutto Terreno" project. I wouldn't call them "60-40" tires, but they should do what I need them to.

Charlie, was the 4.60 mounted on a 2.15" rim? Comparable to a 110? a 120? Was it oversized for said rim?
those Duro HF308s are rare (but findable) in 18" sizes.

From memory, the Xt had a WM3 rear rim (2.5"), but it could have been WM2 (2.15") as that was 6+ years ago. The 4.60 was close but not quite the same width as a 120/90. Shinko recommends a 2.15" rim size:

I bought my HF308s on Amazon for $92.00/pr. including shipping. They've gone up in price a bit since then.

The stock rear tire on a DR650 is a 120 it is very common to put on a 5.10 rear in place of a 4.60 (aka 120)

I like the Shinko 705's as seen on one of my Triumphs several years ago...The rear is a 120/85-18 on a WM-3 rim...It fit nicely ...Obviously a vintage Triumph is a easier handling thing on unpaved roads than your Guzzi but take a look... The 705 Shinko's had excellent stick on pavement although a bit noisy...Not like I could hear them over the Triumph engine clatter ...........

705s here as well. Shinko calls it a 70/30.
