Thank you. If I understand correctly the Norge CanBus had nothing to do with lighting and did not require Bushtec’s CanBus adapter as it does on my Roadster...

They use Canbus for lighting on the roadster?
Usually Canbus is used for data intensive traffic like ECU to dash, not discrete signals like lighting.
I'm not saying you are wrong, it just seems like overkill.

I don't know the current status but for a while there BMW motorcycles were entirely Canbus may still be IDK.

I don't know about the roadster but Ducati have been using it all over in their bikes for quiite some time, probably BMW too, so it would not surprise me in the least.

That's why on another thread I was talking about polarities & indicator flash rates changing etc: all sorts of wierd stuff that I thought would be iimpossible isn't when you introduce CANBUS into the mix

Controller Area Network

Similar to LAN for computers where devices (or computers) send data in digital packets down a line (or wirelessly in computers) and are able too "talk" to each other

So in a vehicle you can, rather than just use current, send digital data down the same line I'm not sure but probably piggy backed on the voltage. That way you can tell some devices to alter their state or reconfigure them remotely from a controller you plug into the vehicle

Makes it harder to tinker with the electriics without the necessary tools or know how, so manufacturers and dealers love it
