I think oil/fuel additives are snake oil at best and are only good at making your wallet lighter.

Does the bottle state how many eyes of toad and legs of newt are used in every treatment? It is very important to make sure the correct number of, (Hopefully endangered!) species are sacrificed to produce these wonderful, chemistry and physics defying, bottles of utter horseshit!
There is no charge for this advice.

Negativity and humor go hand in hand here. Don't take it personally shai. I've ridden the same old Guzzi since 1989 and never used an additive. Don't waste you sheckles.

What do you think an additive is going to achieve that a properly built oil wont provide?
What are the functions of oil within an engine? Do you know? Just trying to save you money.

For what it's worth, Pete, I'm in the process of experimenting with Nulon's E30 Engine Treatment snake oil on the V7 C , but it's too early yet for results to be compiled, perhaps in another 9 years & another 200,000km, by which time any supposed advantage is likely to be too nebulous to ascertain. Besides which, there's no control subject for comparison nor access to metallurgical testing or atomic microscopes. When the engine comes apart, we can all have a look-see. My suspicion now is that there would be no significant difference, as long as regular servicing was followed, but seeing as I started it way back then, I'll likely keep it up & see what happens. A few extra dollars every 50,000km or more is not pure overindulgence. Keep in mind, it is an experiment (a whim at the time the bike was new & precious) & you'd have to intend to put, say, 500,000km on the clock. And there's a lot that can happens between then & then. Interesting? Perhaps. Worth it? Probably not. Feel-good factor? High - compensates for lack of knowledge.

There have been quite a few threads on this board on benefits of additives with ZDDP. I don't know if ZDDP has made a difference, but I use it.

I remember J.C.Whitney at one time sold a "Ring Job In A Can" product. Talk about wishful thinking. But then again, it is your dime.

I remember my dad using the wonder, rebuild in a can.......SLICK 50! We put it an old wood cutting truck in about 1980? The truck was whooped, smoked from bad rings and ran like crap. He opened the quart of Slick 50 and poured her in. You know, about two hours later, the truck still smoked and ran like crap.

It's funny , we hear people say oil/gasoline additives won't cause any harm , except a lack of harm isn't evidence of any benefit .
Seriously , don't waste your money .

On my flat tappet Guzzi, I use motor oil with high ZDDP: Mobil-1 V-Twin.
No need for an additive.
