Noisy Bird Season around here now .... just had a bunch of ducks making a racket down at the pond. There has been an Owl (Big Barred Owl I am sure) hanging around for last 2 nights, hooting a lot. Also a pair of vultures were busy around one end of our farm's field, near the road - maybe a roadkill off to the side.... couldnt tell from where I was.
Today the ravens are driven me nuts - must be feeding their newborns now - always vocal and hanging around the compost pile, looking for something. Mice? They will sneak up on my scattering of bird food (pieces of cookies) and clean up every crumb. Smart critters.
Glad I'm dont live anywher near the really annoying ones like the insane Brain bird of India, or the Cassowary of Australia! Sheesh!

I don’t care if the birds mate I just wish the trees would quit making love, the pollen has been killing me for a month now:(

I've noted the allergies, the bright and many blooming plants and abundance of birds this spring. This seems to be reported all over the country.

Saw these guys coming back last week...can travel 200 miles a day, 2000-3000 mile migration, pick a single mate for life (15-20 years)...that is until one dies ...then they find another :)
Mr. Leopold your cranes are back!!

Three pairs of Canada geese were duking it out this morning on the beaver pond behind my house. Making a helluva racket. I think that we'll be down to one pair in a day or two. Every year we usually get one pair who raise some goslings. The snapping turtles, raccoons, etc. eat them all before they're fully fledged.
