Title: Seat cover to fit 850 T3
Post by: guzzista on May 03, 2019, 04:20:20 PM
Greetings . Does anyone on the board know where I could find a seat cover that fits the Tonti 850 T3? I am already in possession of non fitting cover ( looks more like the one that would fit a later type, link to pic below) as well as  other seat options.

http://www.mgcycle.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=74&products_id=815

Unfortunately, between sellers with broken internet pages, sellers who mix Loops and Tontis  in their Ebay  seat listings, I am at a loss. Before having someone make a seat cover from scratch ( always a bit dodgy as it always "almost "looks like the original and always costs a bunch for a "almost" .  I don't have an original T3 seat picture to post so this is a far as I can illustrate. Can anyone help?

I have seen on ebay in England several companies that sell covers for about $50 and they say they have many more patterns than they have listed.
I have no experience with these companies as to quality or reliability or anything.

The quality seems ok.  Longevity to be determined .What I have  is one of those  from one of the Brit Ebay sellers( not currently listed). Anyway , my upholsterer in San Francisco who has done tons of car stuff for my customers in the past is suffering from a major case of affluenza and he had pretty much talked badly how it couldn't possibly fit. After about a month in his shop gathering dust, I picked it up and laid it in the sun and after a few choice Italian words ( mostly aimed at the upholsterer),  using a Norton seat edge trim strip, it fit reasonably well. Test ride and pics coming. Cheers

I have the disassembled panels from my factory-original T3 seat's cover. I had an upholsterer use them as a pattern to make a new cover in leather. The recovered seat is exactly the same shape as the original. I could copy the patterns onto paper if you want them.

Thanks, Moto.  I have the original T3 seat cover to use as a pattern if needed.  FWIW the cover I have came from a Ebay UK seller . The seller also provided a new seat foam that marched the original T3 foam pretty well. See foam below:

The cover sticker label reads : BJ Hall Moto Guzzi T3 MG1 and while  it might not be in the same quality range as the Harper ones, it replicates the T3 pattern well and has stamped in stitching pattern so it should do OK in the wet (?) As per longevity, time will tell
