Title: 2017 Roamer
Post by: Red on May 06, 2019, 06:28:10 PM
Sincere thanks for letting me join this great group. And I put a deposit on a new Bianco Classico Roamer today! I know it is not a true Guzzi look like a V7, but we just fell in love with it.
Going to join a Road King, Triumph Street Triple, Triumph Bonneville, Honda Rebel and a 1972 650 Yamaha. Never been so pumped about a motorcycle after 50 years of riding.

Will send a picture as soon as I pick it up. I think it needs red heads to match the pinstripes. What do wiser heads think?

Red, welcome to the forum and congratulations on the V9!  I think you will really like the bike.  Since you are new to the forum let us know a bit more about yourself.

Red...No wiser head here, but I take exception to "I know is not a true Guzzi look like a V7". I have owned and ridden Guzzis for many years. I purchased my Roamer in 2016. This thing is as Guzzi as any I've ridden. I enjoy your enthusiasm and I believe it is well placed. I hope the bike lives up to your expectations and I look forward to pics and tales. The more miles I cover on my Roamer, the more I like it. At about 40k mi it's starting to get the hang of me. I use it as a grocery getter, canyon carver, and long-distance touring machine. I've heard it before on this site - V9 not a true Guzzi. On the other hand, that some folks feel like the V9 is not a true Guzzi is perhaps part of its charm for me. Ain't motorcycling a beautiful thing?

Welcome Red, I reckon you'll absolutely love your new V9.
IMHO if it was made by the factory in Mandello it's as much a Moto Guzzi as anything else that ever rolled out of the big red gate 👍

Jackr, I think he just meant it doesn't have the same LOOK (a V7 has a more traditional/retro Guzzi look).
I don't think anyone around here actually thinks a V9 isn't "a true Guzzi" or whatever that might mean. Well except maybe the crowd that thinks anything EFI is too complicated bla bla bla.

2016 model bought late last year, for some reason they haven't caught on here in NZ but that suits me just fine.

Congratulations on your new bike.    :bike-037:

I've also thought about installing the red covers on our V9 - but every time that I go to look for them, they are "out of stock".
Post up some pics when you get the bike

Well done Red!  The Romer is very cool, I road one and really liked it.   What region of the world are you in?

I live on Long Island New York.  Riding over 50 years; NYS Certified Motorcycle Instructor.
Curently: 1972 650 Xs2 650, T100 WC, Triumph Street Triple, Road King, Rebel 300 (my wife began riding recently)

I am so excited about this motorcycle and in no way feel it is less than a true Guzzi. I don't think it sold well because it slipped in the USA unnoticed, when the V7iii were released and did not have a "traditional" tank.  Going to learn from this great group of enthusiasts.

My dealer is very cool (Vespa Brooklyn) and said dont make any changes until the first service. Red Heads are going on, peg moveback s a possibility because I like my feet under me.

I think there's a trend of smallblock owners who also have RKs.

Btw, I'm originally from NYC/Astoria/and eventually Suffolk county.

This winter a bunch from the NJ and MA clubs converged on Oyster Bay for another visit to 20th Century Cycles. I counted 9 Guzzis currently in Billy's collection including at least 3-5 smallblocks.

it just needs red shock springs and red "moto guzzi" rim decals.  :)

Red, please write a comparison to the Triumph Bonneville when you can find time, I currently ride a Bonneville and am seriously considering a Roamer.

If anyone knows of a used Roamer at a decent price let me know. I am aware of the deals at Cadre.

He could have any Guzzi he wants and he wants your Roamer.
