Don't know the bike or the seller. I think the price is way too high for what it is and where it is,jmho.
I saw this ad for a 1985 V50 apparently a former Dutch army bike. They may be common place in Europe, but I've never seen one before, especially on this continent.
I believe the bike is located in Comox on Vancouver Island British Columbia.
I have no interest in the bike, but for the rabid collector, looking the unusual, this is definitely different.
fwiw Buyer beware

Looks like it's one of those uncommon Nato bikes with the kickstarter added on (a military requirement).
I've always wanted one, but I've got too many bikes as it is.

The 250 area code is B.C. no? Comox is on the north end of Vancouver Island. DonG
Hey Don, Tks very much for catching that, I got the town confused with Cormac, Ontario which is a little town that I ride through in the Upper Ottawa Valley.
Comox where this V50 is located, is just a tiny little place on the east side of Vancouver Island in BC,,, I edited my original post.
The only person I thought of that might be interested in it was Canuck750,,, it ends up almost on his doorstep, lol.
tks

A couple of years back we had a young Dutch guy touring the world on one of those, his name escapes me for the moment, Kev?

Hi Roy,
It was Jeroen I think, he catalogue d his travels on the interweb I remember.

If memory serves the kicker was a weak point and was only to be used as a last ditch effort and hope it didn't break before the bike started.
Yep, that's how I remember it too. I just like the idea of a kickstart smallblock.

I was in the Canadian army in Germany from 85-91 and saw lots of those in my travels. A bunch of army bikes from various armies went up for auction when I was leaving. I know some soldiers brought back some BMW R series from the French army and at least one V50, but I don’t recall which army it came from.
Comox used to be a Canadian Forces base.

Funny how different armies do things so differently. I was in the US Army reserve for 10+ yrs, and never saw a single motorcycle.
Yet I know other armies used them all the time.

CFB Comox is still a very active base, so lots of military and ex-military folks in the area. If anyone is interested in this bike, I'd be happy to have a look at it for them.
Cheers,
