Title: 1967 v700 fuel tank help
Post by: jacksonracingcomau on May 07, 2019, 11:15:02 PM
decided to have a go at roo covering my 67 tank, cheaper than paint and keeps oe patina and chrome safely preserved, will just bog up dents ( no lead)
but wtf is the little dick that sits behind filler cap?
had presumed a one way vent years in front of itself
but appears solid and cap is vented
in all loopies or just very early ?
thx

edit
i get it, holds the swivel cap holder arm ( missing)
bolt broken under flush
drilling now, should be fixable

That is the threaded receptacle that holds the clasp for the fuel cap.

thanks , actually sussed it immediately after posting
got the bit out and saved thread so all good
next question
are tap threads 12 x 1mm ?
can buy oe taps but very dear compared to tonti taps
may as well make adaptors, had to make some to convert efi tank to taps so 16x1 form already on mates cnc prog ,making one end 12x1 won’t take long
thx again

Yes, M12-1.0. MG Cycle offers adapters to use later petcocks, making your own shouldn't be difficult.

thanks Charlie, had to be , but have neither bolt nor tap to check
just could have been an oddball out of left field!
