UPDATE June 2, 2019. Due to extreme bad weather forecasted for Thursday all the way through Sunday, for where I live, with heavy lightening, heavy rain and Thunderstorms each day, I have, for safety and comfort reasons chosen to cancel the cookout/campout scheduled for June 7-9th. The local weather forecasters are calling for heavy storms in my area all four days, and I don't want anybody traveling, or camping in that. I wanted to give the riders who were going to travel some distance as much notice as possible. I will try again on a different date. Thank You for your understanding.
Please RSVP, by posting here or messaging me, no later than 5/31/2019!!!
How far would you ride for Guzzi talk and a burger or a brat? We are trying this again since last year was a washout!.....
The First annual Burger/Brat Guzzi Campout will be the weekend of June 7-9 2019. We will host you riders from Friday through Sunday for a campout at my place. We live out in the country on seven acres, with a creek and plenty of camping room, fire pit, etc. Nothing fancy but comfortable!
The tentative plan will be to have riders arrive Friday Afternoon/evening, and welcome you with some Brats/burgers/chips, etc. Then a Saturday ride to one of the local (Tellico Plains or The Ocoee Dam Deli or something) eating establishments, a couple more of the brat/burger related cookouts, with the sides, for a couple of or other meals for the weekend, and weekend camaraderie. We will also provide the soft drinks and coffee.
Again, we have room for your tents, a firepit, etc. I also have an extra bedroom and some floor space for you non tent liking people! (First come first serve, lol)
Anyways, we would like this to be an annual deal so hopefully the first annual one goes off without a hitch! Our last plan didn't work out very well with weather and lots of cancellations! All we need now is YOU!!!! The more the merrier!
Reply here or message me if you plan on attending, how many, arrival time estimated, etc...…. We are out in the country between Cleveland Tn and Dalton Ga. If you are coming message me and I will give you the exact address......Lets hope for decent weather!

I only saw this because I was digging down through all the posts. It is very difficult for me to plan that far ahead because of my out of town schedule that happens with little notice. If I am in town and it is happening I will plan on being there. :thumb:

I understand. If you are able to make it, it will be good to meet you. Have a nice weekend. :thumb:

Is there any interest out there for this campout/weekend event, or should I scrap the idea? Have not received but only one rough maybe so far. No skin off my nose if I scrap it, if its not wanted.
-
I think it's a great idea. Work is keeping me close to home that week, but if I weren't, I'd be up for a ride down thataway

This is the first that I've seen it. Posts like this seem to get buried very quickly. I don't know how this works, but maybe the MGNOC could put it on their event calendar or some other alternative that keeps it visable?
If there's decent weather, I would attend an event such as this. It doesn't have to be bright and sunny with unicorns and glitter - just "decent" weather.
My five cents worth.

There is no commitment by anybody who is actually wanting to do this yet, so I will give it another week and then pull the plug and cancel the idea if not a lot of interest. No big deal either way. Have a good day out there everyone! Ride safe!! :bike-037:

Yes, bring the burger brats. They need the nourishment too.

We put on a couple of rallies a year , not trying to sound snarky , but you need to understand how these folks think . Probably best to figure out how to provide some shelter from the rain , doesn't need to be fancy . Then , once you schedule the event promote it in a positive fashion , and short of really serious storms just have it . Being uncertain leaves everyone wondering whether it is worth the trip .
Now , for the potential attendees , Bob is attempting to do a good thing here , show a little support and commitment , if it means driving instead of riding , so be it . We need more of these gatherings , and the host is taking a chance . In other words , make the host feel like it is worth doing . Some of the most enjoyable rallies have been wet , trust me , you won't melt
Bob , if I can help promote this let me know . Come on folks , help Bob out here , even if only 5 show up you will have fun :thumb:

I think this sounds like my kind of chill get together. I would definitely attend, if I were closer and my Eldo wasnt currently out of commission until I get the cylinders changed. Don't give up, though. I've been putting on a get together kind of like this every year for 7 years, now, and even with all of the invitees being good friends of mine, it still took several years for it to really get going. Just keep trying, don't buy food and drink until you have an official head count, each year, so that you aren't wasting money, and don't get discouraged if it takes a few years for attendance fo pick up. Once a few people go and start talking to others in the group about having a good time, it will start to grow, bit by bit. Good luck! :thumb:

I should know by next weekend my June schedule. :thumb:

Just saw this and normally would come free food or not. Unfortunately I'm already committed that weekend.

Thank you all for the great input. Have a nice remainder of the weekend. :bike-037:

What a cool thing you're doing, Bob!
Wish you were closer than the other side of the continent - don't get out your way too often. If I was only a couple states away, I'd seriously consider going.

Bump: :thumb: I have room for about 30-40 tent campers so space is not an issue. Wont cancel unless very heavy rains, thunder/lightening storms, tornados, or no attendees. Extended weather forecast says 85 degrees! Burgers, Brats, Guzzi Camaraderie!
I have a truck/trailer if rescue/breakdown assistance is needed when in area, and we can move eating etc inside garage and house, if weather does not cooperate as well as requested! I also have two carports, out in camping areas, if we need to get out of rain when tenting. So, there is room in the house, garage, and cover in the tenting areas if needed.
Friday and Saturday evening, fire by fire pit to discuss the Guzzi Gab! We will ride on Saturday (Weather permitting) over to the Ocoee Dam Deli for a sandwich/lunch also.

Bob..I'll check my work schedule tonight and get back to you. Actually I might just take Fri and Mon off and make it a 4 day weekend!
Brian

If I get some work, maybe. If I have no $ I won't be there. Simple, no $ no go.
-
I want to come. If I don't hear anything either way by Friday morning I will put in for leave on Friday and maybe Monday and send my commitment.
I will be hauling one, maybe two bikes with me. Thinking about stopping at the Prentiss Cooper State Forest to do a little exploration.

Just got my schedule. I'm in! :thumb:
Need an address or GPS coordinates. Looking forward to it!

Glad to see that this is shaping up! In another year or two, I may have to make the long trip to attend. It's always good to have more people willing to host these kind of events. Keep at it, and I guarantee it'll grow over time.

Awesome! Many years ago when I had my Voyager XII an acquaintance of mine in Kansas decided to meet at the Voyager XII guru's farm outside of Memphis. We mentioned it on the forum and the first year a half dozen riders showed up. By the 3rd year 50 riders showed up. We had a maintenance clinic, group ride, Memphis style BBQ, etc.
It was looking to turn into another Moonshine Lunch Run! But then the guru decided to sell and retire to a small house in Florida so that put an end to the annual event.

Sounds like fun, was just up at Deals Gap for a week 6st of May. Count me in, out of Pensacola, FL and I've seen your posts for get togethers the last few years but haven't been able to attend OR the weather did you in. Get to pack lite, for a tent weekend trip.
Again, I am looking forward to the ride. Dofin

Current weather forecast for my place; Looks good so far.....
Friday June 7= High of 90 with 40% chance of a trace of rain
Saturday June 8= High of 91 with 40% chance of a trace of rain
Sunday June 9th= High of 93 with 40% chance of a trace of rain.
Lets hope for no heavy rain/storms/lightening/washout weather, as that would lead to cancelling, and I don't want to have to cancel it again!

UNFORTUNATELY extended forecast is calling for heavy thunderstorms and lightening with large rain amounts for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday in my neck of the woods. I am watching the weather closely and as mentioned in original planning, heavy thunderstorms with lightening etc, will cause me to cancel the weekend campout. I will make the final call on Wednesday 5 June as to whether its a go or not. Sorry but I cant control the bad storm weather, or weather of any kind! Think dry!!!! Bob

That sounds like "My kind of Event" ,
I've got to report for Jury Duty on the 6th , but may not get picked for the trial ??? .
If I don't then I can maybe fill in for one of your cancellation folks ?
Ya just never know till the time gets here some times !

Of course you are welcome. Im watching the bad severe weather forecast, hoping it changes, and will make the final call on Wednesday 5 June, 19. Bob

mother nature holds all the cards! Lol
Just imagine how totally AWESOME this event will be when it does happen!
:bike-037:

Bob, you seem to have the worst luck with the weather! Thanks for the update.
-
As I mentioned in the Indiana NAR thread, if you watch the weather channel you'll never go anywhere. Tstorms were forecast here, too, but people came anyway and had a good time.
BTW, the weather went "just" north of us. Take it from an old pilot. Good weather is *easy* to forecast. Bad weather? Not so much.
-
Yep, Im getting tired of cancelling AND trying to plan these get togethers. Stupid Weather. Stormed hard here already today and much bigger amounts of rain and storms are coming over Friday through Monday. Again, the Burger Brat/Campout is cancelled due to heavy rains, lightening etc. Weather is not good here today or the next several days. Stupid weather!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Dunno , try Sept maybe , late May early June in Tennessee is T storm season .

Well, its been storming here since January and we are still 13 inches over average rainfall for the year. Crazy weather!
-
It poured at work today and not a drop at the house where we could use a shower.
I was going to visit my sister in Dunlap on the way to Cleveland so I had to cancel on her as well.
I did end up taking yesterday off instead of Friday and got in 150 miles in 6 hours on the V7.
-
Give June a try. Maybe Mother Nature will have recovered from the snit she's been in since New Years Day.

We have been enjoying the coolest spring that I remember in 30 years. :thumb: I am not looking forward to our typical summer of in the 90s with 90 percent humidity. I have not worked a full week at work since the first week in March. Been leaving early or taking the day off to go riding!

Well...it has thundered with lightening and heavy rain for three days straight now. Makes me feel better canceling the cookout/campout as I did. One of these times the weather will cooperate. Im not asking for perfect weather, just not extreme storms!

We've been getting widely scattered thunder storms. Definitely a counterclockwise tropical system. Getting some "honey-dos" done this weekend.
