Thanks for posting. Which ones is the 6/32 sidecar gears? I thought those were 7/37?
Also, and since we are sort of on the topic.. :evil: How are people mating convert automatic transmissions to regular final drives if the splines are different on those (10 teeth I believe). Is there an adapter? Say I wanted to put a convert transmission on a medium length swing arm bike with a 10tooth shaft and final drive, how would that be done?

cut one each coupler in half and weld together a 10/20 coupler.??. BUT I don't think the ratios on any of the 5 speed will work to good as a Convert drive.

For a convert (9:34 rear gears) almost all the rear drives from 5 speeds are geared too short. The single exception is an 8:33 rear end which comes out to be the "sidecar" gear set for Converts. Early ones were fine spline, bolt on. Newer ones are coarse spline. You need a split coupler and you have to shorten the pinion spline.
I have had a number of couplers welded over the years. I even had a long one made so I could use a Lemans III swing arm on a Convert. That one snapped and left me stranded (possibly due to the long unsupported mass of the drive shaft and play in the splines). When I have a short one done, I use the counter bored end of the 20 spline coupler, and have the 10 spline end turned down for an interference fit and then welded. Much stronger.

Much cheaper than the last one I bought from Europe... 8^))

Would using parts from 2 different ujoints work? Like a 20 spline yoke to fit the trans and a 10 spline yoke to match the LMIII shaft.

You're kidding. I recently paid well over a hundred bones for a NOS one on ebay, then paid a nice member here another significant % of that for a good used one when I thought I lost the new one.
Tempted to buy another one, though....

If the caps of the joints are the same diameter one could build a "hybrid" u-joint.

Thanks for the heads up on that Charlie. I paid around $150. for a NOS one over a year ago, from a seller on ebay. Its nice to know new , aftermarket ones are available now, for a reasonable price. :thumb:

That's exactly what I am planning to do when the LemonVert motor goes back into the 1000 LM frame and gets a 7:33 FD for side car work.
I'm pretty sure that the "big", post T3, UJ's share the same cup size & spacing.
Thanks for posting the link, better get me two, one each for the LemonVert & the "standard Round Barrel SoloVert. :laugh:

I have had this done. John Chicoine can do it.

But why? :laugh: at the bottom of the linked page;

I havent checked the lengths

The medium shaft is 180mm (LM3,4,5 Mille, 1000s), which seems the one they don't have.
