Title: Bacon Slicer ride
Post by: SED on May 19, 2019, 11:21:11 PM
Slowly I've been getting the bacon slicer sorted out - getting better, but still a project!

Took it on a 75 mile ride yesterday and took some photos.

Made a few adjustments and got another 35 miles or so today and made a video.  Stole some techniques from Nick949. Should have lowered the sound level a little...

Fabulous! :thumb:  It really cracks along nicely and sounds wonderful. Nice to see you venturing on to a 'Primitive Road' - all roads were primitive when that bike was made. Great traffic conditions too. My kind of riding.  Thanks.

Great bike!  Out of curiosity, what is your cruising speed?

Glad you enjoyed it.  It's definitely working better and getting more fun!  And I was thinking the same thing about the gravel road. :bike-037:

Great bike!  Out of curiosity, what is your cruising speed?

Probably 30-40 mph in the video. (no speedo) Secondary roads, most with speed limits of 35 mph.  It's got enough torque to run 60mph on its 18hp, but runs out of breath above that.

The camera's wide-angle lens makes things in the center seem further away than they are and draws in the peripheral vision - so the effect is that you were going much faster than you really were.

The low engine rpm and low rpm torque make the bike fun and relaxing to potter around on.  The swing-arm frame with the sprung saddle is very comfortable.

I've been reading the rebuild thread since you started.  Just watched this video.  Wow!  It's come a long way and is a beaut to boot.
