Now where’s this coming from? Sometimes there is a drop of oil there.

That dark spot on the front corner? That's a low point, so oil could be seeping from anywhere. Replace the valve cover gasket, just in case. No need for any goo on the gasket other than a smear of grease. While you are there, remove the breather & check the state of the tube under the clamp - it does go brittle & cracks (& later breaks). If this is so, there is likely to be oil collecting in the channel in the cylinder straight underneath the breather.

Mal, just a thought. But that's the REAR corner.
I kinda think it's the cover gasket just behind the spark plug cover. It's getting blown back and up slightly at that corner.
At least that's my swag. But everything else you said makes sense.

More mysteries. That oil spot once cleaned up never showed up again and there was no trace where it came from. But now I have oil buildup at the bottom of BOTH cylinders. It’s only at the bottom and slightly going up the sides as you look at the engine from the side. It’s where the aluminum meets the black. The undersides of the borrom fins have a lot of buildup. There is nothing wet higher up and no oil trail anywhere that would be a common source to both sides. It’s wet going down to the oil filler cap. I get a gasket could start leaking but both at the same time? 13 k on this bike.

My vote is/are corrupted breather tube(s) at the collection cannister. I have a similar oil leakage problem (on a more massive scale) on my 2013 Stelvio NTX.
I'm investigating that as I only replaced part of the breather tubes at the rear of the cylinders. Now I gotta figure out how to deal with all the ABS plumbing on top of the hoses.
