Shouldn't be too hard to catch this idiot as he blew up a tire.

Hey, I represent that remark!
Yesterday I was abused by a lady who said I cut into her parking spot
The park had no paint lines, I pulled right to the left and left at least 10 feet but it wasn't enough apparently.
-
Where’s the cops in that town????
-
So far, no matter how much I nod and say hello at gas stops or overlooks, I haven't found one yet with a "Get Back" whip tied to his handlebar who WASN'T an anti-social arsehole. And that's quite a few.
So we're apparently NOT all "brothers in the wind" etc etc. I'd be willing, but I don't wear the approved outlaw non-conformist rebel uniform.

So apparently, there are more types of a$$holes on motorcycles than originally thought. Stunting vandals was the subject of the OP, I added wanna-be 1%ers with get-back whips, I'm sure there are quite a few more out there.
Me, I wave to kids, slow down to let people merge, let people cross in crosswalks, don't cut in front of cars ...

Answered the HD itch from '08-'16. 5 of 'em. Finally realized I was never gonna wear the established costumes & for other reasons as well didn't want to be included in their general stereotype irregardless of the occasional exception.

Interesting how quickly this changed from a thread about sport riders acting like idiots to a Harley rider bashing thread . Everyone is an A hole except for us , right ?

Reminds me of George Carlin’s old game show bit, A-hole, jack***, Scumbag.

***holes are ***holes, no matter how many wheels they run on or what they wear on their back. I've known Harley riders and 1%ers who were some of the best people I've ever met, and met Guzzi/Honda/Triumph/take your pick riders who I wouldn't cross the street to pee on if their hair was on fire. That being said, these guys are grade A ***holes.
-
I had a chuckle when that tire popped. Serves him right. Jackasses, all.
A quick re-stripe would fix that in a jiffy. I'd guess it was not a high quality paint, that is easily covered over. ( friendly neighborhood asphalt guy )
-
Seems they were protesting the gay pride march thing.
-
I wouldn't give them that much credit. I'd venture to guess one jackoff got a bright idea, and the others followed suit. spontaneous douchebaggerey.
-
Seems they were protesting the gay pride march thing.
Protesting and vandalism are two separate things.

I’d like to talk about the “irregardless” thing.
It just does not make sense. They even covered it on the Simpsons.
-

Dusty
Uhh, what's a get-back-whip?
Larry
-
In California, a felony. It is a braided leather lanyard with a lead ball at the end.
-
What would be the story if someone painted the crosswalk to look like tire skid marks and someone came along and painted to look like multi colored stripes?
This seems to be more about division and wedge issues and not the fact that paint on roads gets destroyed by all types of motor vehicles.
The real story should be, paint on roadways is slick and dangerous to motorcyclist and bicyclists.
-
No matter the issues... you know.. some people are assholes... My big takeaway.... is it cost 30K to paint it..... WTF?? I have no issue with the rainbow... and understand it might be a tick more pricey because of different paint.... But 30K???

I’ve always been a bit antisocial, but I don’t think I’m any more of an a-hole since I traded my Guzzi for a Harley. I still wear the same gear, wave at everybody on two wheels, and try not to set off my neighbors’ car alarms when I come home. But I do find that fewer strangers strike up casual conversations. I guess it’s an image thing, whether I think I fit it or not.
As for the hooligans who tore up the rainbow crosswalks, jail ‘em, along with anybody who actually uses a get-back whip.
-
Yeh, Plenty of bikers are Aholes such as myself. Still,
I wonder how much of The People's Tax Money the ABQ mayor spent on the "rainbow stripes" - supposedly "A symbol of pride and inclusion" - to help promote the LGBTXYZ parade ??
The mayor of Albuquerque NM is Tim Keller, a Democrat.
As for me, an AZ resident, I proudly proclaim that I am a member of the EADGBE community. Where's my free stuff ??

OK, apparently my mental blockage isn't working today, maybe I don't watch enough TV...
Guzzistajohn gave that link to what a "Back off whip" is.... I'm still drawing a blank on what one is used for...
I know, my innocence is showing... it's part of the price for growing up and staying a small-town boy.

I am offended by the appropriation of one of the natural wonders of the world to represent inclusion.
BTW, a rainbow is the separation of colors or dispersion of the light. So really the light from the sun is inclusion and the light of the rainbow is dispersion.
So, the symbol of inclusion should be the sun. :)

The "get-back whip" is a symbol and a weapon. It says "I'm a bad-a$$ M.F. on this loud, intimidating motorcycle, so don't F. with me, because if you do, you see this get back whip? I'll break your windows, whip you off your bike, and hurt you bad. So step the F. back, get out of my way, and don't F. with me!"
In other words, a substitute for the male reproductive tackle that most of us carry instead.
As to whether one has ever really been used, it's probably been as often as someone has ACTUALLY kicked in a door on a passing car, or thrown a sparkplug or ball bearing through a windshield. In other words, not often enough to ever make the news ....

It was a 76 Charger SEThe Charger SE was the dodge copy of the Cordoba.. it was really a great car once we ditched the leanburn setup. other then the 10mpg from the 400 big block.

While in Australia I was told ( in1986) that flogging punishments could still be handed out by a court of law, (The last one I was told about was in 1957 or thereabouts on Melbourne prison.)
If they wish to make a penalty for get back whips being used or flouted, maybe a flogging would be the way to go.
Any of you from down under can tell me if the flogging rule is still on the books?
I was told that the 1957 recipient was a model prisoner afterwards.

I must've similarly lead a sheltered & cosseted life too.
Is it a weapon then?
If so, then it begs the question; what the hell for, or to rephrase, a weapon against what? Don't many of you new-worlders carry sidearms? Is it used to "whip it" out of an aggressor's hand?

Two incidents re Harley riders come to mind . First was about 15 years back , stopped during a rain storm while out riding the /5 , HD guy engages me in conversation and after a few minutes he states "you are the nicest guy BMW rider I've ever met" . Second was just yesterday coming home from Cedar Vale with the Bassa in the back of the Nissan . There was a truck across the road in Chautauqua KS , truck had some kind of drivetrain failure as he was backing into a small warehouse leaving the truck stranded . Had to stop , fortunately there was a way around . Decided to make sure everything is OK , get out of the Nissan . The truck driver walks over , he is wearing an HD shirt and hat . He gives me a big old grin and starts gushing about Moto Guzzi . Dunno , yeah , I've experienced a couple of asshats on HD's , but percentage wise probably no more than folks riding any other brand .

That’s exactly right Dusty. The majority of the time folks respond exactly the way they are approached.

I would pretty much agree with that. It seems most groups have a few A-holes, religious and civic groups most certainly included. The bad news is that the small percent of A-holes generally get all the publicity.

Sorry dude, but only a very small percentage of Harley riders have a get back whip on their bikes. Those are the guys the rest of us Harley riders avoid. What rock have you been hiding under? Where I live Harley riders cover the full spectrum from bad biker dude to shorts and sandals to Hi Viz gear and Full face helmet. Many of us even have stock exhaust on our Harleys.
Not unlike the few Roadcrafter clad BMW riders who won't give riders of other bikes the time of day. Does this mean all BMW riders epitomize confirmism?
There are many different people who ride motorcycles, just like the guys in the orginal video don't represent all sport bike riders.

Just as a note (since my post was included in the quote), I haven't been engaging in Harley-bashing.
In fact, it's almost like "Harley" is a word like "Honda" was 45 years ago. Someone's mom would say "Oh, my son bought a Honda yesterday", which meant that he bought a motorcycle or motorbike of some kind, regardless of the brand.
I actually heard once "John bought a Honda once, I think it was a Yamaha."
Forty of us on old British bikes, including race-stripped B50s, Velos, Nortons, etc, stopped at the Main Street Cafe in Mountain City, TN, on our way to Shady Valley, and lined up our bikes on the street while we ate. The sweet little waitress came out when we were done and said "Oh, I LOVE you guys Harleys ....!"
So, to the un-new-Harley-buying folks like me, any V-twin cruiser deliberately modeled after a 1936 EL knucklehead (including Hondas, Yamahas, Suzukis, Kawasakis, Victorys, Indians, etc) is a "Harley".
And if the rider is wearing the uniform from helmet, to vest, to pants, to chains, to boots, all meeting the very strict requirements of the Outlaw Non-Conformist Rebel Uniform Standard Rules, well, it doesn't matter what the badge on the tank says.
Aside from all that, regardless of brand, race, creed, color, or national origin, I've never met (or attempted to meet, which is the usual case) anyone on the road who had a Get Back whip on their bike that was anything but an antisocial dirtbag.

Yeah, that quoting thing got all messed up didn't it. :)
When I see displays like a Get Back Whip on a bike I take that as a visual cue that I don't want to even approach this person. Same goes for guys on sport bikes wearing shorts and sneakers, or BMW riders in their Shubert's and Roadcrafters.
Now this Royal Enfield Himalayan sure get way too much attention from other riders.
The Moto Guzzi and Himalayan get no attention from non-riders.
When I am on the Harley every country person gives me a wave regardless of whether they are riding, in their car, or on their tractor.

Always potential consequences for actions. Now it just depends on how much lawyer he can afford, and whether he has any priors. I'm sure they will try and negotiate for more arrests. Is anyone due for reelection in that community? That will make a big difference as well.

Felony? For exhibition driving? Ouch.
Next time he should drive drunk. He'd been in a lot less trouble.

I wonder if the guy who got caught was the one who popped his tire.
