Title: Cruise control for Norge
Post by: giusto on June 08, 2019, 08:24:27 AM
Hello

I'm sure this has been talked about here...just cant find it.

I'm looking for a cruise control for my 2008 Norge and was hoping to find some input and suggestions. My buddy Randy mentioned there was someone on this site a while back manufacturing a quality unit which I'd like to find.

Thanks for the help

cheers

Assuming [!] you're referring to an electronic cruise control, I don't think anyone on this site has manufactured one. However, you should look here for excellent instructions on mounting a Rostra electronic control on a Norge: https://www.guzzitech.com/forums/threads/cruise-control-for-the-norge.4583/ (https://www.guzzitech.com/forums/threads/cruise-control-for-the-norge.4583/). You'll have to register to download the pdf file.

One user considered getting a kit manufactured for the Griso, but hasn't mentioned the idea for quite some time.

Please post your installation pictures if you add a cruise control.  I have an MC Cruise on my BMW and its great for freeways.  If I install one on my Norge I will probably use the GTM airbox lid suggestion.  And you always need another farkle.

Thanks Bert and Moto

I'll have a look at the links.

I was actually referring to a mechanical throttle lock at the bar end...ihonk has one made by a fellow somewhere in Europe that he got through this site long ago and it's really nice.

I just went with a Throttlmeister and was going to recommend that route, but I just googled them and looks like they are not around anymore!

Kaoko Throttle Lock is what I have used.

I've been using the Go Cruise for years.  Simple and it works well enough for the Norge.

I use a Throttlemeister on my Norge.  I don't really care for it and seldom use it.  The typical roads I travel in Wisconsin are in rolling hills and what becomes 85-90 on down slopes is 55-60 on the up-sides.  It's just too erratic for comfortable use for me.  It could have some good application in the ideal road situation but in my case, I have little use for it.  They're easy to install and the price is moderate so it would be pretty easy to give one a try for your duties....

Kaoko Throttle Lock is what I have used.
But that’s not going to roll the throttle off and apply it, to adjust to changing conditions.
Why can’t you just get a car one and attach the magnets to the disc and hook the actuator to the linkage ?
They are only magnets passing a sensor, they don’t know if they are on a bike or a car.

Simple, effective and cheap (Guzzi content).

The O ring can be effective, depends on the bar end and the gap to the grip.

I picked up one of those plastic "clothespins" that slips on the grips and locks the the clothespin against the brake lever.  Takes all of about 20 seconds to install, costs about $20.  Also picked up a Chinese aluminum one for $20 on ebay but haven't bothered to install it.

I also those thumb switch throttle locks for both my Guzzis.  Those take about an hour to install.

I like the "clothespin" one as well.

I prefer the simple clothes peg one - the GoCruise - simple, elegant design, nothing to go wrong. I've tried some of the more complicated versions, but the simplest seems best for me. On all my bikes. I've done some 400,000km with them. They are not perfect, the throttle doesn't move a tad with the vibration & bumps, but a light finger on the throttle holds it. So it does the job of resting the right hand, and it's quick & easy to slacken off.
