Title: 850T charging system question
Post by: Inshan on June 09, 2019, 10:05:07 PM
I bought a 1975 850T that was not charging due to an open rotor.  I elected to upgrade to this system from Euro MotoElectrics: https://www.euromotoelectrics.com/product-p/edl3-altkit105.htm

So far I have everything installed and wiring is OK except one wire which I believe is the 61 circuit.  See pic

This is the new rectifier (diode board) that came in the kit.  It doesn't have a 61 terminal as far as I can tell.  Do I splice the 61 together with the D+ wire?  Hoping someone else has done this before.

This is the wiring diagram supplied by EME.  This kit is primarily meant to retrofit BMWs with the Bosch charging system like ours.
The Guzzi has minor differences.  Mine has no Y wire, but I am adding one.  Their diagram shows no 61 equivalent circuit/terminal as far as I can tell.

Yes 61 and D+ are connected together as shown on any of the schematics from the 80sThe Y terminal is not essential.

A simplified diagram I made a while ago to wrap my head around the charging system a little better. Looks like 61 goes to the charge indicator bulb, which is required to have a load for the original setup to work. They must have eliminated that weak link in that rectifier.

THanks Groover,
I did find your diagram and related thread in my research before I decided to post.  It was helpful.
