Title: 2.5” Monza gas cap on a V9 Roamer
Post by: Neogas on June 11, 2019, 07:11:35 AM
Hi all,

Just after some thoughts on how a Monza gas caps looks on the V9. I like it, but I am still unsure as I can see the cork gasket and I worry it sits a little too high.

Could find one for a Guzzi, but research said the Bonneville one will fit.

What’s the consensus?

Does look a little tall, but gives it a "classic" look, kind of like the kind on the 850T/T3. That style of tank needs all the help it can get, it's certainly not to my taste!

The same happens on the Bonnies so a lot of folks take the cork gasket out so it will sit lower on the tank, they do not seem too have any issues with seepage or leaks.

Here's a link to those early style gas cap, not sure if it'll fit the newer tanks tho. It says:

Consult your parts manual for proper fitment, 48mm Seal Ring

Please compare to current cap. Fit later model V7 Sport and Eldorado, T3, 850T, Lemans 1, early Convert.

I used one on a Bonneville for a while, but ended up removing it as I continued to smell gas with every ride.  Sold it and went back to a stock cap, problem over.  I like the mechanics of the Monza, but that was it, it was a stinker for me.
