I always seemed to have bad luck with the original rear brake light switch. Seems they'd short out easily. So when it went bad again, I found a 70s Yamaha switch, drilled a hole in the battery tray and added a key ring for more length. Works great!

The loop switches are not very good
Because I am running an LED Stop/Tail I have been thinking about reed switches front and rear.

Some of the recent replacements leave a bit to be desired, but the original (rectangular, metal cased "snuffbox") switches are very durable. 50 years and 111k miles so far on the original one on my '69. I put a NOS one on my V700 when I built it.
