right side spark plug looks ok..but only ok
left side spark plug dry/black
compression (hot motor / WOT) 180 psi both cyl
Thoughts where to start?

Weak spark Would do it. Maybe swarf stuck on the sensor in the bellhousing.

Check the basic tune up first.
Valves, timing, throttle balance and cables. Clean the throttle bodies too.
After all of that is done and the problem persists it could be leaking injector or other similar minor or intermittent failure.
Most problems are found by going through the basic maintenance items.

I would check to see if the fuel enhancer or choke is fully closed and put a new set of plugs with the correct heat range in. Start there and work your way back. Checking to see if the spark plug leads are not leaking spark and are in good working order.

Yes, I have new plugs, wires/caps and air-filter on route from MGCycle

Where does this model get its engine temp reading? Left valve cover like the 98? Elsewhere? Check for an accurate temp reading.

Check OHM on spark plug wires
Side that is running richer reads
