Title: 8/33 final drive

The 8/33 final drive on my 93 Cal was too tall for my liking. Found a 7/33. Like it much better. The 8/33 is for sale. If anyone interested please pm me. Ciao Andy

The 7:33 "sidecar" gears work really well in the Californias. I have a set in My 03 aluminum, and never want to go back to the 8:33 , even without the sidecar!  I like to be able to use 5th gear, and the way the bikes takes off from a standing start with the lower gears is amazing. :thumb:

AFAIK the 7/33 final drive gear is the most common for many Tontis but is not the sidecar  gearing which is 7/37 to my knowledge. I would like to add that for riding cross country on the big slab the 8/33 does quite well. I also have 7/33 gears swapped in my Cali1100 and am quite happy with the change.

I got out my ancient guzzi notebook 'cause you got me thinking about the sidecar gears. The lowest one I know of is 6/32 or 5.334 to 1. It has the finer splines like the Convert 9/34 (3.77 to 1) gears which are also the tallest in Guzzi-dom. The only 7 tooth pinion set I know of is the 7/33 but there could be later versions I am not aware of.
I like that the gears can be swapped on the loop and tonti bikes with relative ease since they used the same design for so long. If only the CARCs were like that!

There is a 7/37 for the newer-of-the-older bikes.

Cool, I'll add it to the notebook. I would think a 7 tooth pinion would be more durable than 6.
