Title: V85 - WHERE ARE THEY
Post by: timonbik on June 18, 2019, 12:50:57 PM
Well we are coming up to the end of June and no V85's have shown up on dealer showroom floors.   Season will soon be half over for us up here in Canuckistan.  I'm interested in one of these but I am sure glad I didn't preorder one.  Appears now they will  arrive just in time for winter storage.

Cheers, Tim

Well, they've arrived here in Oz, but so far in small numbers, and first satisfying the early orders - no demos, or dealer floor stock, so they're in & straight out. One has been spotted on the road, in the flesh. Someone could go & check out Huzo's - he won't be here for it for a few weeks, so it'll sit there longer than most.

I’m actually going to let that one go.
Mine is a red/white one due end of July.

I don't know the route the Canadian bikes are taking.

I'm told the ship carrying the first US allotment has docked in TX and the bikes are being offloaded and sent to the TX based distribution center.

Dealers in the US should start receiving them shortly, the further from TX the longer, but here in the northeast dealers are thinking early-to-mid July based on this.

Bold strategy Cotton, lets see if it pays off for him.  I do believe one should wait for the color you desire. Maybe Pete can pop down and pickup the bike you are letting go  :boxing:

I reached out to my local dealer, Portland, Oregon, and they have deposits for ten bikes with a total of 16 to arrive this year.  He said he had six to arrive at the end of June so I assume this is the remaining units that don't have deposits on them.  And yet to think the entire allotment for the year will arrive in one shipment is hard to believe.  They are a straight shooting operation but I can see where late June is sales speak for, "Did I say they'd arrive in late June, I meant they would leave the distributor in late June."

I am hot for an early 50th birthday present in the next couple weeks and a red/white/black V85TT is tied with a Triumph Tiger 800.  Both have that cool European vibe I'm after.  The Triumph has a pretty hearty clutch pull and that has come close to killing that as an option for me.  I have heard the V85TT has a pretty light clutch.  Add that to the 6 gallon tank, reasonable seat height and weight and there is a bike I have a strong interest in.  Dealer will confirm color availability for me tomorrow.

???

Just a stupid internet meme.  I just wonder how accurate an "end of July" prediction for a bikes arrival would be considering how many times the first shipment of bikes have been promised over the last year or so.  Of course it is no business of mine to be concerned about when you get the bike.

Visited my dealer (in Norway) yesterday, to pick up the Griso after its winter storage (I've had the roadster on the road for some weeks  )
Anyway, they had one V85 in the showroom, and additionally one demo bike ready for rides. I'm not interested in getting one, but regret not taking it out for a ride when I had the opportunity.
They claim having sold several already and I know of one guy who bought his V85 from this dealer. Apparently, the V85 is a realite success here.

Thanks for the update on availability in Canada. I just got back from vacation in Italy and had rented the V85TT from Agostini’s for two days to tour around Lake Como. I was very impressed with it for the two up riding we were doing. The white, yellow black colours are much nicer than the other options. Agostini had a solid silver which wasn’t eye candy like the tri colour.

How was roll on acceleration in 3rd and 4th gears?  I'm curious what passing power will be like.  I only ride 1-up but will likely have 50 pounds of gear with me.

Number cruncher, sorry for such a late reply.
Roll on in 3rd with two 5’10” 200lbs people was pretty impressive, not as strong in 4th. I didn’t do a lot of downshifting going over the passes to Lagano. 2nd and 3 through the short tight switch backs though

Actually I just turned down a red/white one.
I am now locked into one of the TWO ! (Apparently) all red Glawster replica ones. Once you’ve seen his you’re a cooked goose...(so to speak...)
Tell me I’m wrong...
