Title: ambo V7 speciale sidestand
Post by: lazlokovacs on June 24, 2019, 06:05:47 AM
parked bike got knocked over yesterday by a big vehicle.

No serious damage, bit of a scrape on one of the panniers that will get a lick of paint in due course.

side stand saved the bike from far worse.

Unfortunately the sidestand is now banana shaped.

Blacksmith unfortunately passed away last year (no-one has taken on the forge sadly) otherwise I'd just bang it back straight.  Now I'm thinking of getting a new stand.

Usual suspects don't seem to have stock....

anyone got one languishing somewhere?

thanks

Call around to moto guzzi classics, harpers and mg cycle. There are others that I can't think of now I'm sure. Someone will have one.

Early big sidestands are the same thing as H-Ds, all are the same design & most parts work from 1 to another.
The H-D stuff is cheaper in price too. Those 4 hole attachment mounts are same spacing.

No such thing as a special sidestand, my Cali2 works on my V700(special crashbar for PD sidestand) & my 98EV.

Don't believe BS.

V7 Special = Euro equivalent of our Ambassador. I'm guessing he's looking for a short "civilian" sidestand as used on the V700, Ambo and Eldo, not the long "police" sidestand.

AND I have more than a couple of them. Does it match the rocking horse centerstand?

I forgot all about it being called a Special, I must be getting --------"off to the funny farm we go"

"Civilian" sidestand looks like this:

thanks guys,

I don't really mind which stand it is as long as it holds the bike up!!

I might have an old BSA stand at the back of the shed which could be worth investigating....

Why, if you can grab the proper one off eBay for $38?  Hit it with some paint and throw it on.

Or get one from Guzzisteve. All of my spares are mangled in some way it seems.
