What should I pay attention to? Are there any recalls on this year? I think cracked headers were an issue with these, or was that earlier models?
Anything else? Ive owned several Guzzis, but never a 1400. Thanks for any advice.....

My friend had a failed ignition switch, which left him on the side of the road. He was able to have the 2014 California towed home.

My 2015 had a failed TPS at 2700 miles. My research indicated the possibility of a bad batch of those sensors from the factory which could have randomly found their way to several different bikes, styles, sizes and year models.

I experienced no significant problems with my Cali 1400. Considering that they were a new design, they seem to have been remarkably trouble free.

Has it really been sitting unsold for 5 years at a dealer?

Apparently....

If the price is right, go for it. A bit over 22K on mine and all is well. No troubles.

Over 25K on mine, no issues except for the cracked headers. That is no big deal, a trip to a good welder and good to go. Overall impression, comfortable, fast for a "Big Girl", a lot of electronics-some I am still discovering, some of the best lines on motorcycle ever produced. Finally a reliable motorcycle that does not fall into the cookie cutter mode that will draw a crowd at any Harley Davidson gathering......

Hi JB,
Love my '15 Cali. I suggest heated grips if you intend to ride in cool weather and deflectors for the hand grips. Mine threw a service code once, it cleared itself and hasn't been back for over 8k miles. I've had several bikes...this one's a keeper.
Be well,

I think my 1400 Touring is a very good motorcycle. I'm not convinced it's a good motorcycle for me..but it's a good motorcycle. It's definitely a cruiser, but it's a cruiser that can be hustled along a twisting road.
-
I agree with John that is a cruiser but must add that my 2015 tourer has been a very effective all day tourer. I’ve had Electra glides, gold wings, beemers among other touring bikes and find the Guzzi to be at least equal. If one wishes to ride distances with a passenger then a different seat is a must. Possibly Corbin or equivalent.
I would also recommend a good local dealer who appears to be a long term stable Guzzi dealer, if not run like you’re running for your life😂

Hi JB,
One more thing...I don't know what you are used to riding, but for the Cali 1400, keep your revs over 3800 and she will never disappoint.
Be well,

My 2014 Custom (same basic motorcycle as the Touring) has had one problem in 35,000 miles. The brake switch for the rear brake failed, leaving the brake lights permanently on. Easy fix, but an expensive part.
A riding buddy bought a 'new' 2014 Cali 1400 at the end of last year-no issues with it.

I have a 2014 touring with 19K. No major issues. Go for it. BK

My wife, who does not ride on the Bassa, sat one with me at a dealer back in 2014 and gave me the green light.
I had to remind her that they would insist on selling it to us for money.

I bought a 2014 Cali Touring new in April of '14. I have 26K miles on it and I love it. I did replace the exhaust crossover with a Guzzi-Tech unit. I had to replace the clutch lever micro-switch.
This is my 4th Guzzi, so I know the brand. This is the best Guzzi I've ever had.. It's great bike! It's very comfortable on long rides, corners well, and pulls like a locomotive. Mine will pull easily from as low as 2500 rpm. It's happiest cruising between 3500 and 4000 rpm, but it'll spin right up to the rev limiter without complaint..
I've replaced the air deflectors with larger units of my own design and I replaced the stock shield with one from Clearview in Colo. No more buffeting.
I'd say- Buy it, you'll like it!
