I started by removing the side panels which had 3 bolts each side and then I carefully pulled off the covers paying attention to the 2 plastic posts and rubber grommets in the middle area of the panels.

I removed the 2 front tank bolts.

I removed the 2 rear tank bolts and the battery and battery tray.

I removed the 2 hoses in the rear area of the tank.

I put a piece of wood under the tank to raise it and then I unplugged the wire harness connector to the tank and in my case I cut the fuel line because I am replacing it with rubber fuel hose with clamps rather than use OEM hard plastic molded on line.
Otherwise you have to remove the quick release valve from the fragile plastic elbow on the pump assembly.
I then lifted off the tank.

I propped up the tank and removed the 6 bolts securing the pump assembly.

I wiggled out the pump assembly and inspected it.
There was a bit of corrosion and granular debris from stale ethanol fuel.
I disassembled the pump assembly so I could clean it and replace the hoses.
I wire brushed it off with a brass small brush and blew it thoroughly clean with compressed air.
The screen was pretty clogged up.

I replaced the hose with Gates SAE 30R10 submersible hose and Swedish ABA fuel hose clamps.
The pump assembly with new filter is all cleaned, cable tied and ready to go back in the tank.

There was a little bit of oil in the air box and it was a bit oily only in the right intake tube.
I cleaned this out as best as I could.

These are the internal tubes in the tank for venting the tank and for the water drain around the fuel cap.
I blew these out with air to make sure they were clear.

If I had run your's I would have had to have a 1200 to be satisfied! I'm pretty happy with my 1100 and I'm going to keep away from the 12s. :drool:

While having the tank off I noticed some areas where the paint on the frame had been rubbed off. This is on a bike with 4K miles.
I thought it would be a good idea to raise the tank a tiny bit to hopefully prevent this from progressing.

In this picture you can see the piece of inner-tube I cut for a spacer. It is about 1.5mm thick.

I put some more up by the ignition switch tank mount points.

I put a bit of foam tape where the tank contacts the rubber spacer that is seen in the top picture.

I would like to fix the paint on the frame even though it can not be seen but I am not sure of a good way to do this.

I like to spray some paint into a small cup and use the ragged end of a paper match to touch up small spots. Surprisingly it works well even in areas that can be seen easily. Mike

That's remarkable! I don't think I have ever made it a month on all the bikes I have ever owned without pulling the tank. Then again I have never purchased a new bike.

LOL, I bought it in 2015 from MI. They had just done a full service and checked the inner plugs, so no need for me to. I bought it with 5-6K, am at 12K now, getting ready for a valve adjust. I'm the same, have already had the tank off the Stornello and MGX a couple times, but the GRiSo kinda says NO.... lol. The bike has been perfect, only oil & fluid changes and valve adjusts so far. Now ready for a total service, trans and rear diff fluids, oil change, fresh tires, valve adjust, TB balance, Guzzi Diag TPS reset and relearn, etc.

I have yet to pull the pump on my 2013. I have a cell phone boroscope on order from Amazon so I can peek in the tank and see if I have a plastic filter in there. If it's all metal I am going to leave it alone.

Well it is back together (except for side covers) and on the road today. I rode it about 25 miles.
I left the side covers off so I could more easily inspect stuff under the tank on my test ride.
It seems to run fine, but I need to do a much longer test ride and at higher speeds to be certain.
But it is 97 here today with high humidity and I'm not going riding.
I put stainless eyelets under the back tail section for bungee cords rather than the OEM beveled pegs.
The canister is gone.

A pinstriper's brush is ideal for that kind of job. It's very controllable. Paint will flow from the brush body to the tip.

Those of you that are using these disconnect fittings, are you leaving the Guzzi OEM disconnect fitting or are you removing it and clamping a hose over the barb from the pump/filter assembly plate?
I left the Guzzi fitting but used hose that is easily removable, so I can just pry it off of the T connector and not struggle with the Guzzi disconnect when I remove the tank.
I don't like the idea of adding an additional disconnect as it adds more pieces of hose and more clamps.
The main reason I replaced all the external FI hoses was so that I could easily remove a hose from the injectors to flush out water or contaminants from the tank.
No need for tank removal, after removing the injector hoses, just turn on the key and it will piss out a cup of gas and flush the whole FI system.

Were you able to reuse the original rubber seal between the tank and the pump assembly or did you replace it ?

I reused the oval rubber gasket. It seemed in good shape and it is not leaking.

Thanks that's good to know. I was hoping not to have to buy a new one as they are quite pricey, at least in Oz.

Mine came off easy and this is the second bike I have done.
I would say just be careful when you remove it to make sure the gasket is not sticking and if it is, go slow and carefully separate it and then the gasket should be reusable.

I just added the disconnect in a spot where I could reach it easily and there was room. The original Guzzi parts remain.
