Title: (NGC)-Help please on a mower slipper clutch

This is the slipper clutch setup from my OLD Ford 5' rotary mower. How do I get this apart from here to get to the discs? The first picture is from the front and the second from the back. Couldn't find any help on Youtube.

        Looks  to be swaged together from both sides, possibly not meant to be taken apart without machine work involved.

 John , what Paul said is probably correct . You might consider loading it on your trailer and taking it to a machine shop .

Got to be out the door here in a few minutes. I have had it apart once before to change the discs, still have one old one hanging on the shop wall. I don't remember having to take it anywhere but then also can't remember how I got the thing apart.  :violent1:

Not that I can help a bit, but what does the edge of the clutch look like?

 Looking again at your second picture, are those threads on the o.d. of the hub? Did you remove a large nut from those threads? If so then I believe that center hub should push out from the threaded side.

If I understand your question, the answer is yes, as that would be the large tensioning nut. It is removed so could I try putting a piece of 2x4 for example over it and hammer on that or does it require a press? If you look at the second picture the flanges or whatever they are called appear folded over. Do they bend up? Do you bend them up prior to trying to drive it?

    I would think they just push through, after a liberal dose of penetrating oil. I can't see behind the part that spreads out but it may just be rusty enough so that it looks one piece.

RinkRatII appears to be the advice winner. I don't have it apart yet but have been able to move the rusted looking plate a bit by tapping all around (much clutch disc dust came out), using a very small chisel as wedge and then a punch. Currently soaking it with penetrating oil.

Have it apart, there are actually two discs so ordered a second one. Have some cleaning to do. Otherwise looks to be good to go from here.
