My 02 stone has has pegs, and not boards like the EV. The stones came with heal/toe shift lever, and really with the pegs the heal part just gets in the way of my foot. I doupt I will ever use it at all... just feels odd to me.. Is there another lever that will swap on? Any reason I shouldn't just hack saw off the heal part??

Cut mine off 😨, sounds painful doesn't .

As a recent Stone buyer I'm interested in this topic too. I'd much rather find a lever that'll fit instead of cutting the stock heel/toe setup tho, I'm also thinking of possibly adding foot boards some day.

Last year I bought the first cruiser type bike I had ever owned ; also the first with floorboards and heel-toe shifter . 1994 California 1100 .
It felt strange and uncomfortable at first . I thought about changing to foot-pegs and regular shifter while I was getting used to the bike .
I padded the seat to relieve the angle on my knees and adjusted the bars , and tried a couple different windshields , and at some point I quit thinking about it and now feel that the heel-toe / floorboard combination is just right for that bike .
It took about 4000 miles for me to like it .
I have a couple other bikes with different riding positions and conventional shifters , and am not tempted to change them to floorboards and heel-toe , but for that bike they're just right .
I bought the bike for the drivetrain , and it took me a while to 'get' the cruiser thing .

I was not particularly fond of the heal-toe shift on my '02 CalStone at first. I contemplated a rearset conversion kit, but that was was going to be ridiculous money and I would likely have lost my passenger pegs. As I've ridden the bike, I've got used to the heel-toe and don't mind it so much. I'm a size 13 boot, so I don't have to move my foot around too much to heel-toe, but times I've tried (accidentally) to upshift with the toe, it has been too much of a reach and I might not engage the next gear properly. With proper adjustment of the shift lever main linkage, either set-up should work just fine.

I have a Stone with pegs and heel shifter. The shifter wasn't something I would have added myself, but I got used to using it fairly quickly. Now I like it, and it saves wear and tear on the toes of my boots. I don't miss having floorboards, the pegs work fine.

Thanks for the input guys. As of now it just gets into the way.. But ive only got a 1000 miles under my belt on it, so Ill hold thill I ride it more.. I also plan on a taller seat... so maybe that will make a difference..

Don’t worry mate, it’ll heel up.
Sorry, heal up.

I cut the one off the Jackal years ago just like I've always unbolted and removed the heel portion on the 2-pc Harley FL shifters.
I even had a spare unmolested shifter for the Jackal in case I ever changed my mind and wanted to reinstall it, but I never did.

Do the stone/Jackal use the same shift lever as the EV? Being they mount it on the peg... I wasn't sure if they were the same.

My convert had a toe/heel shifter, which was useless, of course. I hacked of the heel part, re-shaped it as best I could, then had it re-chromed. Much better that way.
For the Jackal & Bassa, I got to like shifting with my heel.

My Jackal had foot boards when I bought it, and I enjoyed using the heel & toe shifter with them. The new Stone has pegs, and I plan to experiment using the same shifter with them, before either adding boards or cutting the heel portion of the shifter. I want to keep the heel/toe if it feels right.

On my heel-toe setup, I got used to shifting my foot from front to rear on the lever to use the toe only, because my foot is a bit stiff from being badly broken in the past. Shifting with my heel is not comfy. It causes me zero difficulty as I quickly got used to it and don't even think about it.
