I know some of the screen-name/real-name associations, but not "Jimmy". Page? Hoffa? Crack Corn? It's only been 10 minutes ...

Many of us don't use our true name.
It doesn't sound good, so why not just leave it alone.
If you did know him, you wouldn't need to be asking.
-
I’m confused, is Jimmy, Dusty?
-
I don't know, sure hope not. It is a confusing thread. I always thought Dusty was Dusty

"Just hush up and don't ask" is never a very satisfying suggestion. Especially when the situation has been posted on list like this with thousands of readers all over the world.
As far as using one's true name, I try to not follow the evil examples of history.
'I have not seen these tokens before,' said Aragorn. 'What do they mean?' 'S is for Sauron,' said Gimli. 'That is easy to read.' 'Nay!' said Legolas. 'Sauron does not use the Elf-runes.' 'Neither does he use his right name, nor permit it to be spelt or spoken,' said Aragorn.
That's why I use my real name, so someone won't mistakenly think that I'm a malevolent evil spirit bent on world conquest. Speaking of which, I see that FaceBook is mentioned in the OP, which is always a sign of some sort of trouble coming.

It's gonna be awfully strange not seeing the word "Dusty" around here
as it permeated most posts..
Dusty had a lot to offer and has now created an incredible void.
Pisses me no end to have not had an opportunity to shake that man's hand.
Thank you Dusty for your sacrifice.

+1
I gladly endorse all other sentiments expressed in his thread, too.
In particular I will miss Dusty's reminiscences about the music scene, he met and heard many fine musicians.
-
I've had a few conversations with Dusty. personal messages and phone calls.
Never knew him as Jimmy. So doppelganger or Dust in the Wind?

Just like to echo the sentiments already expressed here.
I lurk around here far more than I should, and Dusty truly has contributed to the character of the forum, with wit and wisdom. Thanks for all you have done for for the Guzzi community.
Best wishes

What does some lame pop group have to do with Dusty's reference to a lyric an Allman Brothers song?

OK, I'll explain it for you. Dust = Dusty. Dust in the wind, he's not on the board any longer.
Sorry to upset you. Must be the hot weather?

Or the fact that he's gone

He's not gone. He's just doing something else. He's a good man, he's been threw a lot of shit in his lifetime.
I've had phone conversations and messages with him. He'll be fine, just needs a change.
I'm done talking about this. Have a good day.

Geez fellas , chill , alright . Unfortunately Luap wouldn't accept my resignation , maybe I just need a break . Please don't turn this into something it was never meant to be , fair enough ?
For all of you who have sent PM's , they are all appreciated , if I don't personally respond it isn't because the messages aren't welcome . Like I said in the original thread , I'm simply dealing with some personal issues , and maybe I overstated the situation , but please respect the intent .
I want to say something to some of the newer members , Rocker had this place cleaned up before long before my arrival , and while our styles are somewhat different , if you want to thank someone , thank him . Mike may have stepped back a little when he gave the reins to his friend from Oklahoma , but he was always here . Then thank Luap for all he does behind the scenes to keep this place functioning smoothly .
Thanks ,
Dusty

Whew! I was fearing Dusty had crashed the Wildguzzi corporate helicopter or sank the yacht. And Luap was tractoring a big hole deep in the Ozark hills to hide the evidence of Italian corporate discipline.

Whether you read this or not, you seem to have gained the respect of everyone you’ve touched here.
You are able to clip me under the ear with one hand and help me up with the other. Roper’s words went closest to what I tried to say, so I trust people will respect your wishes as you have theirs.
Dusty is a good name for you.
You’re not really aware of it’s omni-presence until it’s been removed and it’s usually gathered on things that you take for granted..
Thank you for your guidance when Mum died.

Been on the road couple days. I missed whatever happened. You got my cell if you need anything. In PA right now. Home next week. Keep in touch little brutha.
-
Honestly, Dusty's tune changed when I threatened to pull his privileges from the corporate yacht and jet
Give the man some space and support. I've been there. I can't tell you all how many times I was ready to pull the plug on this Hobby and a skinny little hippy in Kansas named Chet pulled me back in.
Our team is great. I keep the wheels greased, the ecu tuned and kick those out that need it. Chet is my backup Admin in case something happens to my account and he also helps with consulting and is an advisor to us all. He's actually going through a lot at this time too, so a good thought his way would be welcomed and appreciated. I'll leave it at that and please don't bug him.
Rocker and Dusty are my superstars whom I consider friends. There is NO WAY I could keep up with moderator duties as well as greasing the wheels while working a real job as much as I do.
Lastly my rock is LaSandra. She gives me the female perspective of things and is well, just a lot of fun to have around .
We're a lucky crew to have a good group of members as well. Really the board can run itself, but every now and then even the Maytag man has do some routine maintenance.
Hope everyone is well, healthy and keeping the rubber side down.
Later,
Luap
