So the time has come to thin my 1100 Sport herd a little . I just bought another yellow 1997 Sport earlier this week, which takes me up to having 10 Sports besides my other bikes sitting in the barns, which is more than I want to take care off. All of my bikes are fully serviced, but I only start many of them up only twice a year to keep everything lubricated. I finally decided that I like to ride a little more versus servicing or pushing bikes around the barn every weekend. I'm going to start listing one bike after the other for sale here, on CL, and on eBay starting in about two to three weeks. I'm planning on selling a Yellow 1997, a painted in BMW red 1997, a silver 1996, and a blue 1996. I'm also selling my full restored with 4700 original miles 1979 Yamaha XT500. I don't need to sell any of my bikes, so sorry, but this is not a fire sale!
Although none of my bikes are perfect, I did spend and worked a lot to get my bikes as nice as they can be, so please understand that I'm not going to give them away. Please let me know via a pm if someone is interested and would like to know more about any of the bikes I have shown below, and we can go from there, or wait till you see a full writeup when I list them for sale.
I finished the restoration of this bike three years ago and added maybe twenty miles to her odometer since then.

I'm still a little hesitant about selling the blue 1996, since selling this bike would brake up the "having one
of each available factory color" in one collection, but..... I have only ridden this bike for 50 miles since I
bought her over two years ago.

Ok, so my comment about an intervention on Facebook had an effect?
I reckon you need to keep the blue one.

I'd like the blue sport first...
Then the yellow to sit next to it..
And since now I've got two, it's so easy to say yes the the third, fourth, fifth, and sixth...
It all makes perfect sense to me! I can stop anytime...

Hey Andy, by any chance, did you purchase the beautiful silver "spot" from a gentleman in Arizona? BTW, that XT 500 is absolutely gorgeous! I love those big old , vintage thumpers, with drum brakes. :thumb:
Rick.

I'd crawl seven miles over broken glass for the blue one! Sadly I can neither afford it or bring it to Oz!

That blue one. Mmmm. Rare and beautiful!

Wow, will be looking for the entire listings, curious if you FI bike have chips or fueling upgrades, etc.... great looking group there, the blue & silver could work quite nicely for me. Plus I'm close to the triangle! Love the Red one, but not sure if I want to deal with painting the wheels... we shall see i guess!

I bought the silver 1995 with golden wheels about three month ago from "The Guzzi Doctor" up in Chicago. I bought the silver 1996 with black wheels from a gentleman up in Maine a little over two years ago.

All of my 97's have the Creedon chip installed. About painting the wheels on the painted in BMW red Sport..... I actually love the red wheels on this bike, but I know that this is not something for everyone.

Ohhhh baby, the blue one...

Blue is not just the best looking color, it's the fastest (carbureted) one too!

This blue one is a nice looking ride; however........ She was used and ridden as intended, so she is no trailer queen! Between all of my 1100's, she is the only one that I can't consider being a trailer queen! She has her fair share of scratches and a couple of dings here and there. I also managed to melt the insulation of one of the Mistral cans on my first ride out after I bought this bike, when the right carb slide got stuck and was pumping gas as fast as it could into the exhaust until the fuel found an ignition source..... Lets just say that it was a good thing that nobody was riding or driving behind me when the spark hit, since all I remember was hearing a deep whoooopppp sound and a 10 foot fire ball behind me! :) I talked to Mistral, and they still have a oval replacement sleeve with carbon wrap available for $250.00, so it's no big deal to either fix the can or just buy a new set of newer pipes.
You can tell that the pipe got hot by looking at the melted Mistral logo sticker.

But yes, this bike looks stunning from five feet away. I thought about painting this bike, but that would take away from being a true surviver, so I rather keep her with the imperfections and let the next owner, if she sells, decide on what he or she would like to do with her.

Next big question - asking prices?

Next big question - asking prices?
I'm looking to get between $3.5k - $5k for any of the bikes that I'm looking to sell. I know that the 1100 Sport is not a bike for just anybody, so I think that it is going to take some time to sell any of my bikes, especially since I'm planning on selling one before listing the next.
To answer your question about the blue's asking price. I'm looking to get around $4k or maybe a little better for this bike. This bike has 20k miles on the clock, is fully serviced, just passed inspection, and has about 50 miles on a new set of Michelin Pilot tires. I can sell this bike with the current Mistral exhaust, or I can take it off and instal an original 1996 1100 Sport exhaust. I'm planning on reinstalling the original 1100 Sport exhaust before listing this bike on eBay, so I won't need to deal with "it's easy to fix the insulation and wrap on the damaged pipe". Sadly enough, it's going to be easier for me to fix the exhaust when I have time and then sell it separately for some good money.
I will let everyone know when I'm starting to list my first bike online.

Red one..!
-
Alright now....I’ll take the red one first. Then, the yellow one. Oh hell why not...? Add the blue one to the mix !
-
I had to check the date of the posting, thought it may have been April 1st, but nope this is real! (been following your collection for a while). Best of luck with the sales!
-
I have seen these bikes in person and even ridden some. It is no joke that Andy takes very good care of them and keeps them up to speed with tires and service. There are going to be some very happy Sport owners in the near future!

Since we are talking sports, the one I just got has straight cut tranny gears. I remember reading something about not putting too much torque on that tranny?
-
I bought a '78 XT 500 new and enjoyed it for 3 years. A primitive bike compared to modern KTM's, but at that time it was the Enduro bike to own.

Keep the RPMs up.
