Thinking of removing the plastic eagle tank badges on my 2017 V7III Special.
Has anybody out there done this and if so how did it go?
Are there any pins on the badges or mounting holes in the tank on the backsides? Or are the eagles simply fastened to the tank with adhesive?

Though I shudder at the idea because the badge is beautiful, I attempted to answer your question.
The parts books don't help.
So I googled Moto Guzzi V7 fuel tank to look at images.
The images of a late-model smallblock tank without the badges seem to suggest it must be just adhesive since there's no visible mounting brackets of any kind. And the are no fasteners I can see in the outside of the badges.

So I'm not 100%, but still fairly confident it's just adhesive.

It's adhesive. You can saw them off with dental floss. Make snot balls of the residual. R3~

Not sure about the V7, but the badging on my V9 Roamer was just cheap plastic pieces glued to the various surfaces. I used a hair dryer to heat&loosen the glue; easy removal and with a little elbow grease no residual glue or any other indication where the badges once resided.

Confirmed. I've some new badges & they have an adhesive backing.

Thanks all, haven’t finally decided but leaning that way. Sounds like a hair dryer, dental floss or fishing line, and goo gone or some other mild solvent will do it.
If anyone has a pic of a V7III tank without the badges please post it here.

Here's one view - the logo is ghosted on and is rarely evident in photos.
Always in two minds about adding the eagle in red, but so far have resisted the temptation.

I've been wondering about that too. Not sure if I like the little plastic pigeon on my 2018 V7III Special. Graphically, it's lame, and it looks kind of cheesy. C'mon, you guys are Italians, and don't italians have a better eye for style/design? There have been better looking tank graphics in past years. The tank shape is awesome, though.

With respect to those who find them attractive, “cheesy” was just the word that came to mind when I first saw the plastic eagles. And on such a beautiful bike! Italians generally DO show great style so it’s kind of surprising.
Disclaimer: I’m an 100% Italian American who’s been to Italy twice and admired all things Italian forever.
Having said all that, I still haven’t finally decided to pull the trigger on removing those plastic eagles. The cheap little sticker on the front fender is gone though.

Well I don't fault anyone who finds then cheesy....I just don't.
I mean no one makes metal badges anymore or anytime in the last few decades. There's no functional reason they shouldn't be plastic. They "look" right to me. And most of all I'm "proud" of the brand and have no reason to hide it.
And to me whether or not it is true, that's always felt like the rain people de-badge vehicles. Like oohhh my Kawasaki W650 is a Triumph, really.... My Shadow is a Harley... My Civic is an Audi (I didn't say any of these guys were smart).
It might only be a small percentage, but I've met the sinks to go with each of those examples. Oy hey.
So I see something de-badged and at least gotta wonder if this is another one.

I like the badge on Olivia. Much better than the sticky label used on my Cali Stone which faded and chipped away over the years.
Everyone has their own preference.
It comes down to it's your bike..do what makes you happy!!
Ride safe and often...
with or without the badge!!!

I have never been able to figure out why someone would de-badge a bike either, I often see crotch rockets done that way, why wouldn't you want someone to identify it with Moto Guzzi?

MG on the tank, valve covers, side panels, and saddle may be enough but really “it don’t matter” as we say in SW Ohio.

I just found this. I'm considering taking the badges off to paint the tank on my 2017 Stone.
What about reattaching them?

They came off easily with a little heat from a hair dryer. No damage at all to paint. Looks like you might have to replace the adhesive to re-apply the original plastic eagles. Didn’t like the naked look after all so I replaced mine with tank decals from www.isaydingdong.co .uk which is an excellent company.

As everyone said - a little heat from a hair dryer and the peel right off. A little adhesive remover and you're done. I thought my Milano needed a bit of color, so I swapped out the silver eagles for red.

Those look really good. Red wings would look fantastic on my Audace. Where did you get yours?

Looks just like the one a bought 3 weeks ago. Nice looking bike. I love the classic styling. I use mine mainly around town and in the twisties. I am halfway through the breakin period. It would be more but I can't ignore the Audace.
