Ok I will go first, if I could have only one Moto Guzzi, and I have had a couple of the iconic ones, it would be this one

Girder front suspension, the big headlight, 500cc horizontal single, pre-war 500 GTS
Perfection

Is the rule that you can only have one Guzzi but you can have other brands of bikes to ride?
That two-up trip to the Grand Canyon is going to take a while on that old bacon slicer ...
Lannis

Ice blue or white '76 850 LeMans. Hands down.

Lannis you can keep all your British beauties but only one Guzzi!
The older I get the less of a hurry I am in, a slow ride to the canyon sounds perfect!

Oh yes! if I could find an original ice blue Le Mans it would be with me until I am ashes in a jar

An all black Eldorado 1400 with a known good Demand Sensor, California Touring hard bags, windshield, driving lights and heated grips.
I hate reading the rumors the 1400 has already been or soon will be killed off. Unless Piaggio does an 1800 version for the Moto Guzzi Centennial.
-
As Lannis alluded; there are aesthetics and there is practicality. And possibly the two could be combined. Le Man's hooked me on the brand in the early 80's. Bacon slicer's are works of mechanical art. I am neither wealthy nor mechanically astute. My only bike is more ridden than washed. Therefore my choice would still be a LeMans. Two. Or maybe something the Doctor built. Anything built by the guy in Edmonton would be on my list as well.

Easy. For all its warts (which Jim is quite familiar with)

Easy one. GRISO!

My choice would be a red ‘07 Norge with a VFR 800 style muffler and aluminium rims with stainless spokes and no tubes.

Easy.
I can only have one Guzzi, and it's what I have.
Gradually modified to be exactly what I want in a Bike.

Jim, that's an interesting question to contemplate!
Since my preferred bike to ride is a Guzzi I would have to pick the bike that can do any ride I could imagine doing. Small enough to nip down to the pub, but powerful enough to cruise 80 mph all day on a long trip. A number of the Guzzi's I own could get it done, but the one that would do it most competently would be the Norge.

I'd go back to my dear long lamented Le Mans 3 with a big bore kit, and 40mm pumpers. It was a beast.
-
I’ll have to agree with the 850 LMIII crowd. Out of the 5 guzzis I’ve owned, I get the most enjoyment out of that bike. That motor and that light weight low slung design is just right.
(https://i.ibb.co/x3ypyyG/5-EEB56-A0-F42-F-4098-954-C-DE2-C8-DE7-E264.jpg) (https://ibb.co/x3ypyyG)
-
That's tough because Ive ridden so few Guzzis…. So first Im saying a 1000S.. First bike I fell in love with the second I got on it... Those old stiff throttles can be a bear though.. Im assuming at this point in the game there are fixes for it.. Maybe a small removeable sheld for the colder seasons... Second choice would be a LMIII...
-
I'll have to join the early LeMans crowd although I think the Cali is now better for me given I've broken my back twice. The Cali is such a relaxed and enjoyable machine, and I like it's funky looks.
But if I was going to sit and LOOK at it, definitely an early LeMans. My LeMans 5 was UGLY (always hated the high tail) but what a beast. Maybe put that motor into a Tonti frame and change the ergos? No wait - forget that. I remember trying to keep those Del Ortos 40 MM carb springs open.
OK - back onto my beautiful Cali 1100i with a nice throttle action, comfy riding position, and carrying capacity!

For me, it would be my 1975 850T with a 2002 Stone driveline.
If I get a bit of time home, I will be putting on EV frame rails so I can bolt up a set of V7C footpegs to them for the master cylinder so I can add a rear disc. Already has a disc swingarm and T-3 final drive.

Good question - but tough!
I'd like to say it is the GTV - for the same reasons you like the GTS but with two over-head valves!
(https://i.ibb.co/GFyhvxq/IMG-6654crop.jpg) (https://ibb.co/GFyhvxq)
but in reality it would probably have to be the LMIII - bigger, tougher, faster. And if I couldn't have it, I'd have to switch to a flying brick for my practical bike...

Not possible.
Oh come on, surely Piaggio can find a reliable Demand Sensor. 😀
It certainly is possible for Piaggio to make an 1800 version of the Moto Guzzi V Twin. They just likely don’t have the stomach to do so. If BMW, H-D, Polaris Indian etc can make big v twins that pass current regulations certainly Piaggio could as well. Perhaps they see Moto Guzzi’s future relegated to 750 and 850 bikes. If that’s the case, then that’s what will happen. Making only midsize bikes seems to be working for Ural and Royal Enfield at this point.
-
I would narrow the choice to either one of the Daytonas or one of the 1000S's. That's the best I can do.
-
I'd say "Who made this damn rule?" and then I'd go out and buy two Guzzis and dare them to do something about it! :thewife:

Because I am of middling height and middling weight, and our roads in NZ tend to have corners.....
I would like a bike that has yet to be built. That is the V85 slung in to that road bike that was on a post recently. Because of dodgy back and a few other things the seating position would need altering, but that bike would be ideal for our NZ conditions. Until then, the Breva suits me admirably.
When I win the lottery....
-
(https://i.ibb.co/q7x4RF0/image.jpg) (https://ibb.co/q7x4RF0)
I could easily be tempted by the Le Mans 1,2&3, but giving up the Daytona would be almost impossible....
-
Until the road versions of the V85 come along - its an easy answer for me - a Breva 750 just like mine.

In my case the choice is very easy, it will be Moto Guzzi but nothing produced before 2016. I will keep my 2016 Eldorado but... it will be very hard to let my Audace go. On another hand, f&^%k the one bike restriction, I will keep both.

(https://i.ibb.co/SRQrmcd/1280px-Moto-Guzzi-Mandello.jpg) (https://ibb.co/SRQrmcd)
If limited to something that fits in my garage I'll go with the current fleet of 72 Eldo, 85 LeMans 1000 and 2007 Norge.
Ain't picking a favorite.
Ok, it's the Eldorado.

And I'm surprised that many people appear to NOT be doing what you're doing ... to already OWN the one Guzzi they'd like to have!
I mean, it's not like there's a Guzzi production version of a Brough Superior SS100 at half a mil ... with the exception of a few one-off exotics like the V8 Racer, any of us could own any Guzzi in the world for the price of a family car, or, for most Guzzis, the price of a 2011 Ford Fusion.
If I didn't like the ones I have, and there was another that I lusted after and thought I would like better, I'd sell what I've got and buy it!

At the moment... I only own one Guzzi... my much loved and often misunderstood 2004 California Titanium. Yes, it has the Hydro motor, and a properly "fixed" Hydro is a wonderful thing. Yes, the tank looks like a "flaccid whale dork" but listen to me...
I. Don't. Care.
Because that machine is a sweet symphony of power, handling, charm, quirks, and class. She's my first Guzzi... and first loves are something special. Yes, there are faster bikes out there, but she's plenty fast for the riding I do. Sure, there are better looking bikes out there, at least by some opinions, but I love how she looks. But most important, I love how it feels when, like this morning, we went for a ride. Home to work is 42 miles... and I enjoyed every one of them!
Nice cool morning air, no fog for a change, it was glorious. This is why I ride. But I ride my Guzzi because of her quirks and "imperfections," those are the things that give her character and make the ride so much more enjoyable than being on a (cough, cough, Honda, cough) that while it was a great bike, it was so smooth, so predictable, so... bland, that it was boring. It was like riding a blender or some other "appliance" to work. Where's the fun in that?

It would have to be a completely new design from the ground up. There isn't enough size or volume, (Or probably strength!) in the *Old* crankcase for more crank throw and the crankcase pressurisation and venting issues would render it unfeasible. That's all. Any '1800' would have to be a clean sheet design.

I agree 100% which is why I suspect few at Piaggio would be interested. Especially with the current success of the V85TT.
-
I find it hard to believe I am saying this, but it would have to be my V7II Stone. Hard to believe because there are so many Guzzis that I love and I have never been ALL that smitten with the V7II. But it worms it's way into your heart by being good at a lot of things without being particularly great at anything, and I think that is a very Guzzi characteristic.

The same one I've been looking for ...my old Monza. Bought from Sonny Angel in 1986. Rode for 20 years, then sold to a guy here in Wisconsin with the promise that he would give me first refusal should he decide to part with it at some point in the future. Of course he didn't keep that promise. He sold it to someone in Albuquerque NM. Easy to spot..Blue powder-coated wheels, custom paint (Guards Red with gold and blue pinstriping, OEM water-slide decals), Mikuni flat-slide carbs, Works Performance shocks, Corbin seat.
If you see it, or know where it is, let me know!! I will buy it!!
