Anyone out there ditch the fat and hot stock cat-con for an aftermarket Y-Pipe? If so, any fueling issues? Really don't wanna mess with a re-flash this early in the game, it's running so well.
I can feel that thing throwing off some heat, not to mention the weight.

Cam I put on the Augostini y-pipe. There is a noticeable reduction in heat. I have ridden a couple time in tennis shoes and it was comfortable even on an 85+ day. I notice it lopes on idle at first but is fine after warming up. It might be a touch lean and will have Enzo look at it when I am down that way. Power is just a little better but you may not notice the difference. Weight is less but not noticeable because it is all low. The biggest weight difference for feel was an Earth-X Li-Ion battery because the difference was all up high.

Does the addition of a fire extinguisher negate the weight saving of the Lithium battery... :clock:
Sort of added in jest, but have you heard horror tales of them catching fire ?
Boeing had some dramas too.

Thanks T-Man. Weight isn’t the issue as much as the heat. It runs so perfectly now, I don’t wanna screw with that. When I put Agostini slipons on my V7, the ECU “learned” in short notice, and no EFI adjustment was necessary. Please report back after some more miles?

This is where I'm at, it runs so well I don't want to screw anything up by eliminating the cat.

Catalysers need to run hot for the exotic metals (platinum??) to do their job properly. Removal will not only save weight, but the derestricted exhaust gas flow will allow the whole engine to operate cooler.
Midpipe manufacturers are claiming another few HP too. Always a good thing. I've found that a bike's ECU will compensate for exhaust modifications (within reason) over time. Aprilia's RSV 1000, for example, requires an alternative "Map 2" when fitting a freer flowing performance exhaust on what is for all intents & purposes a highly tuned road-legal old-school Superbike.
I'm guessing the auto-retune is due to differential feedback from the oxygen sensor, however there's cleverer souls on here that can correct me if I'm talking BS.

It appears that the Agostini y-pipe doesn't have a hanger bracket like the catcon. Is that an issue?
There are crossovers from Mistral and Guzzitech that have a hanger bracket (they cost more $)

I would think it has a hanger bracket because the stocker is so heavy, I doubt its needed on an aftermarket that weighs a fraction of the original.

i couldn't understand why this 850 felt hotter than the 1400 i traded. i finally thought it out and realized the floorboards put your feet forward of the catalytic on the 1400. the v85 has the benefit of encouraging boot use.

Replaced CatCon with Mistral y-pipe. Only 5lbs lighter. 🤔 Went for a ride, and there is a little more popping on deceleration (which to me sounds kind of cool). Popping seemed to lesson as I rode (ECU learning perhaps). Most noticeable ... my feet were colder.

I fitted a hanger to mine, also TIG welded the joins.
Put the O2 sensors behind the crankcase and gave the crossover pipe the arse.
Zero dramas..
Why the hell would you persevere with the stock setup ?
