My riding buddy presented me with a Sena Bluetooth set; wow, makes traveling so much easier!

More photos coming when WiFi is faster 😉

Tobermory is quite a pleasant place. Had a front blow through last nite  And a nightly low near 62° along with a spectacular sunset

This boat is moored just below the hotel. They are from Ohio, and said they traveled 12 hours through Huron to get here. At 65 gallons of diesel per hour, you figure what they spent to get here. Moto Guzzis are much more economical!

Tomorrow at 6am we load onto this ferry and head for mannetouin island.

Yes, thAts a shipwreck. Photo NOT TAKEN FROM SEAT OF My Cali.

The nite shot was our watering hole on the first nite out: Sarnia ON. The restaurant is called Dockside, it was excellent. We stopped at Blackhorse cycle to see our buddies but only the guard dogs were there to greet which was fortunate because we barely beat a storm into Tobermory last nite.

My children's and grandchildren's chance at a decent world environment. They need a canoe!

PS It's Manitoulin...   Have a great trip

A little panoramic shot of the Georgian Bay.

This is not a great place to ride - its a very narrow strip of land - but its a great destination.
We promise out Canadian friends that we wint tell any Americans about it so mums the word.

Lined up at 6 am for the ferry. Then a shot from the bow as we crossed on the Chi-cheemaun ferry. We definitely got some riding in today, high in the 70s and a low of 66 this morning.

This is the time of year to ride here for sure. A bit of a precursor of fall for us.  Lovely

Ron,
If you're heading around Superior this won't help at all, but if you;re heading east again, the loop north of Iron Bridge is a nice, relaxing diversion following the Little White River for much of the way.

I'd like to make the ride.  I understand they're pretty unforgiving to speeders.

Hmmm - we STARTED in Canada but as the astute have discerned we are now in the UP exploring the South Shore of Superior. We did the Whitefish scenic byway today and visited two lighthouses including the one at the Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum. The weather has been superb for riding - high of 75 today and this mornings ride along the shore was SO enjoyable. As Rush said - “Freeze this moment a little longer”.

A lot of today was learning more about the Edmund Fitzgerald. Just a haunting tale that tells of the frightening power of this lake - that looked si beautiful today. It is a dichotomy of the first order.

So we paged homage to the bell from the Fitz. Just a chilling tale.

Thanks Nick! We did pass through that area and met some fine HD riders who live near Lake Elliot. They confirmed that now is the time to be riding here; they said September can be dicey and October often out of the question! For now - cant imagine better riding weather!

Ironic that the Edmund Fitzgerald went down JUST north of the international line and hence is in Canada. We’re from Ohio and it is touching that roughly one half of that ill fated crew was from Ohio.

If you're doing the UP, eh? let me recommend Tahquamenon Falls State Park if you like waterfalls. Nice restaurant there, too.

Today we started in Sault St Marie; toured the Valley Camplaker, which has some excellent Edmund Fitzgerald material including some tqisted buoys that were used to mark the spot but were mangled by the cruel witch Superior when she drug them down to 250 feet. Such power in those black waters!

We headed towards the Mackinac bridge and joy of joys we were forced into center lane by construction on tbe outer lanes

For those that have crossed tbe Mackinac bridge you know tbe center lanes are steel grate. Lovely way to tighten the sphincter. Steady as she goes and finally on the other side.

We turned west to pick up the Tunnel of trees, and stopped at Legs for goulash lunch. Then south on 31 through the beautiful
Towns of Petoskey and Charlovoix.

Oh yes Roy - old Gordon has been along for this ride for sure!

He is revered by the folks at the Shipwreck museum for his lasting legacy to the Edmund Fitzgerald. I understand he has given a concert there as well; wish I could ha e seen that!

On yesterday’s ride I could not get his music out of my head. One of those things that happens on a long ride....

Gordon Lightfoot's songs, especially that one are among my favorites.
Wouldn't that make a great movie!

I'm also fond of his song Canadian Railroad Trilogy. At least I think that's the name.👍
