Title: ...bridges of Oklahoma [a whole bunch of just that]
Post by: Daniel Kalal on August 28, 2019, 08:19:19 PM
what's interesting with this collection taken over many years of riding through Oklahoma, is that very many of the old steel bridges have been removed and replaced with rather bland concrete things that I'm not likely to even notice, let alone stop to take a photo.

Scrolling through, I notice I've got some repeats--taken on different rides.  But, the basic design of the truss bridges and pony bridges was so standardized that it's hard to tell, sometimes.  Of course, all Oklahoma rivers look alike...

I wonder how many are still left?   They're replacing them one by one.

The old steel truss bridges are a lost thing from our past. This one was closed a couple of years ago in Lindsborg, KS.

there was a beautiful steel girder bridge that crossed the Ohio River in Madison Indiana that has now been replaced by some non-descript bridge that is so lacking in character, I can't even tell you what it is made of.

I'm sure I saw Dusty in the distance in one of those shots. :undecided:

Thanks for the memories. "Boring" and "non descript" sho nuff describes the replacement bridges.
