Title: NGC Buell tires
Post by: twodogs on September 09, 2019, 06:25:59 PM
Hi all, I know some of the members here have owned Buell bikes, can any of you share what tires worked well for you. The bike in question is a 2008 xb12xt that will never go off road, thanks for any input  :boozing:

I had an XT and liked the Angel GT's, 4-5 k per set then they get a flat spot riding around here.

Pirelli Scorpions, maybe not so long lived but the best I've ever had. Road tested a Stelvio equipped w/Scorpions and when I saw them I knew it was gonna be fun and it was.

The tires are the stock Pirelli stradas I believe with 8000 miles on them and both front and rear are wore out. Just wondering what anyone with Buell experience has had luck with, I'm in flat Iowa so super sticky is not needed, I did run the Pirelli sport demons? I think on the 1200 sport when I had it and they were nice just didn't last very long. Just wondering out loud I reckon.

+1 on Pirelli Angel GTs -- 2009 Buell XB12XT

Edit: re-read original post -- I've also had very good experience with the Shinko 005 Advance on the front and a Shinko 009 Raven on the rear of similar bikes like Suzuki 1250 Bandit and MG Norge.  A plus is they're more economical, and give more mileage than most others.

I'm right at 5k on a set of Angel GTs and I see the wear bars coming in the middle but not there yet.    Problem is I'm heading to the GA rally tomorrow and I'm pot committed for 600-800 miles.  Do they go fast in the end like the PR3's did?  I'm hoping not!  Luckily not much rain forecasted this weekend.

The Buell looks like a tire cousin to the Griso so the Angel GTs are a good recommendation.  I'm going to go with the Scorpion Trail II when I get back I try those before switching hopefully to a GT version of the PR5s.
