https://wset.com/news/local/police-man-missing-after-telling-wife-he-was-going-for-a-motorcycle-ride-sunday-night
It's one of those things where you just don't know. Man tells his wife he's going out for a ride on his Gold Wing trike 7:30 one evening .... and hasn't shown back up the next day, so there's an APB out.
We joke a lot about "I told him it was either ME or the Bike .... it was the longest wheelie I'd ever seen", so it remains to be seen whether he ended up in Panama City sipping margeritas in a hammock today, or is under the bike in a ravine off of Virginia Route 8.
I hope it's the good one ....

Let’s hope for the best

Gold Wing Trike equals Silver Alert.

I hadn't even thought about that being a possibility. The dude's only 71, and that seems young to me these days .... !

If he is still missing it doesn't look good . Sorry .

Well, it didn't turn out good.
Turns out the guy went off of US11 10 miles or so south of home, about two miles from where he was last seen on a security camera, and someone who was searching for just an occurrence found the Honda off the road, police were notified, and they found his body nearby.
I was still hopeful because there's not many places that a 1200-pound bright red Gold Wing trike can be hidden by brush and kudzu, but that's apparently the way it went.
Careful, all you (us) old guys!

Always give your route to somebody who can notify the authorities if you don't arrive on time. California is full of sharp turns and steep canyons that have hidden wrecks for years.

He only made it 10 miles from home? That’s really sad.

Not that hard to go off a road and be hidden. Lady in dothan al recently ran off a fairly well traveled road next to a bridge and wasn’t found for a day or 2

Spot device could have shortened the search

A local guy went for a ride on his Sportster and never came back. This was quite a few years ago, so the presence of security camera’s wasn’t so prevalent as they are today. About a year went by when a rusted out Sportster was discovered in a well covered swampy area off a major road with the skeletal remains of the rider not too far away from the bike.

Trikes with two wheels in the rear aren't the most stable. Wonder what happened? Swerved to avoid a deer? Heart attack? Operator error and died from the crash?

Probably never know. The family might request an autopsy to see if it was a heart attack or aneurysm, maybe, but other than that ... ?

There was a guy around here a few years ago that bought a brand new Goldwing and had his wife follow him home. He couldn't navigate the transition ramp from one highway to the next just a few miles from the dealership and went over the rail to the road below and was hit by a vehicle. The bike stayed on the upper road. Can you imagine the nightmares his wife must have had after that?
