The local motorcycle superstore is having a fire sale, so this in not my fault.... being on sale and everything......
Besides, I've been looking at these for some time now, but (Guzzi content) too cheap to pay the asking price.
It was much more attractive at $4,000 off of the list price.

Kinda purty.
I knew instantly from the title it was a Kawi.
-
Looks like a ZRX missing some bodywork.

Went to the local purveyor of new Japanese motorcycles to buy some stuff and spent some time looking at this one. Great looking machine and you know the performance is there. Nice deal. I was also drawn to the Kawi KLX300R.

So many bikes so little time..over the years Kawasaki has always been the tire shredding machine. Your new one has one hell of a history..1975 were the 1st ones?

Congrats, and great choice, there is one of those (was there a few months ago) at our local Iron Pony motorcycle superstore. Hundred of nice bikes in there, but that was the one I kept going back to look. Very sharp.
-
Love these things... keep dropping by the dealership to look at one locally. Sweet bike, please let us know what you think!
-
Beautiful bike, I was just lusting after them on-line yesterday.
Regarding the originals, I don't think I ever saw one that didn't have a Kerker exhaust hanging off the back. $4k off list put that in V7 range. You've got some great dealerships by you.
-
At the AIMExpo that was here in Columbus, OH that was one of the few modern bikes that I have liked to test ride.
Good choice :thumb:
-
Just what you need, Kevin.. another bike.
I like it, and I'm not a fan of more than two cylinders.

That is sweet!
Always been a Kwak guy. After my initial introduction to motorcycles on the obligatory (in the mid 70's) Honda 50 Mini Trail, I went thru a slew of Kwaks. A KD 125 was my first real bike. Then my old man bought a KZ400LTD in '80 that I ended up riding to HS. Bought my own Z400 later that the wife and I dated on. Then a 74 Z900, another, a 1000 that we honeymooned on.
I wrenched in a Honda/Kawasaki shop in Abilene for a couple years as a college student. Loved the conservative approach of Kawasaki vs Honda. Honda was bold and innovative....but man they had like 4 different engine designs going that were all very different to service. Kawasaki....if you know the gap and where the points were (yes, points Virginia) on the KZ200, you could find and gap them on the 400, 650, 900, and 1000. Same with all the major components. Shim under bucket...what nonsense...threaded please.
My current main tourer is a 2005 ZG 1000 Concours, direct line from the old KZ series thru the early Ninja's. Easy to maintain, reliable as a stone axe. 73K trouble free miles (just replace the front wheel bearings every 25K!)
-
That is purdy!
-
Beautiful choice! Been lusting over that ride myself.
-

So, you KNOW that I stayed up half the night, detailing and waxing. Damned thing doesn't look any different.
Uggggggg !
Still, that's a lot of green right there. :thumb: :thumb:
:bike-037:
and.... it's raining here

That is a gorgeous bike ! I like the look of the trellis frame, and how the pipe just "flows" with the lines of the bike.
Kwaki did a great job with that bike. I have lusted over those myself ...yes the root beer one, but yours really looks sweet! :thumb: :thumb:
Congratulations!
Rick.

Sorry, but I can't agree here.
The ZG 1000 is a modified 900 Ninja. These are water cooled.
The only resemblance to the old KZs is they are inline fours.
As for trouble free? Imo not hardly.
That said they are good mile munchers.

Te only kawasaki I'd even consider. NICE buy.
-
I like that too and I bet it's a hoot in twisties. Kawis were my main choice before I discovered the Guzzi's. I've owned 3 Kawis over the years. None were green.
-
Hard to beat those ole inline 4s and I don’t care which jap brand.
-
SO - now - Kermit has a friend.
We'll just park it next to his bike.

I was looking for one when they came out. Very pricey at the time. $4k off is a good deal.

This is a very large dealer with lots of bikes. Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki, Suzuki, Indian - in one large building - and Harley in another.
They had a fire in the shop, and there was a lot of water (sprinklers and fire trucks) and some smoke damage. They ran the bikes thru the wash bay and then parked many of them outside on the parking lot and hired security.
And then they had a "fire sale" .
I had been in there maybe a week before and these green bikes were inside and at the far opposite end. So, after I thorough inspection and ....

Hey Kev, is that Kawi for sale yet??
