I see that KTM is releasing another parallel twin. 890 with 119HP and weighs less than the 790.
Unfortunately it still looks like a KTM but perhaps the best looking they've done so far. Too bad they can't make a pretty bike. I haven't a clue if KTM has made their bikes more reliable and easier to maintain but they certainly have come out with a lot hooligan machines. I am guessing the Husky 901 also has a version of this engine? I saw that they are also making a sport touring version. I suppose the styling appeals to some and not others which is cool.

Not keen on the modern styling, but I would sure get sick of the orange. Maybe it's not so bad when you are riding on it.

You should get one JL!! It'll just fit!

We went on a group street ride back in August. I was on my 2016 Duke 690 (a single) another friend was on a 2019 Duke 790 (parallel twin). Late in the ride it was obvious his legs were cramping. I offered to switch bikes cause earlier in the day I sat on his bike and it was obvious the 690 had "enduro/adventurer" ergonomics while the 790 had more "sport bike" ergonomics.
I was surprised the 790 wasn't hugely faster than the 690, at least up to 80 mph. The 690 felt faster up to 60 mph. I suspect that above 90 mph the difference in available acceleration would have been considerable.
I did not detect any aspect of the 790 that made we want to get one, even before that ride, I really thought it would be a better bike.
I see where KTM is coming out with a 390 adventure bike.

Having ridden the 690 I am surprised that the 790 is not faster. I actually prefer a slight tuck rather than upright riding position.
I suppose the 890 would have more kick to it. It has 6 more claimed HP than my Duc 939 SS, although I don't care for the styling nor looking for a new bike.
