It has roller rockers arms, is there any benefit to fitting them to an original engine?
-
1,000cc and 36mm Delortos, probably has some grunt to it!
-
I LIKE it.
-
I like that a lot.
Wonder who built it originally & any backstory? There's been a somewhat similar 1000cc upgraded V7 Sport advertised on c/l over an extended period of time that never seemed to sell. It wasn't cosmetically equivalent to this bike, but probably could have been "restored" to look like this & maybe even be the same bike.
-
Asides from 850T footrests and what looks like to be a Bub outside filter oil pan/ conversion,( with the dreaded internal hoses) not much to nitpick. Roller rockers may be a Manfred Hecht thing, and pretty darn rare. I am sure other folks will pipe in. All and all looks like a super fun ride

What's a realistic price for this bike?

What's a realistic price for this bike?
It's a 'special' and that detracts from top dollar. In addition to the footrests and carbs being non stock, the rear shocks are not stock, not sure if the rear wheel is a Record Cross rim, choke lever on left cylinder head like a LeMans, missing signal lights. the brake calipers are newer replacements, should be dual bleeder type. The red frame is nice but again not stock and the yellow paint was not stock for a V7 Sport, its probably meant to imitate the original Red Frame hand built early production bikes but it isn't very close. Spokes could use a clean up, the rotors look tired. Missing the electronic petcock and small starter motor.
I would peg a top price on a perfect restoration around $22 ~ $24K
For this bike to get it to that level if you could find the original Koni shocks, petcock, starter motor, foot rests and signal lights, and who knows what else would in my opinion takes at least $6K off the price, maybe more. I don't think its worth much more than $12 ~ $14K
-
Thanks, Jim. It'll be interesting seeing how far the bidding goes. So far, no bids above the 12K start.
-
The roller rockers are intriguing. Anyone know the maker? That would not be an easy weldment.

Ed Milich @ Guzzipower.com has done them in the past.

I think this would be a great bike to own and ride. It’s very attractive to me having put so many miles on Tonti framed Guzzis long ago, sport riding them for all they were worth. The V7 Sport was great because it was the smallest and probably lightest of the bunch, but it had weak power and weak brakes. On this one most of the weaknesses have been removed but the classically attractive small bike is still there. The only remaining issue that jumps out at me is limited cornering clearance with the flat exhaust pipes, but that can’t really be changed without altering the style of the bike. I would probably put an accessory Le Mans upswept exhaust on it anyway, and a matching center stand, combined with appropriate mild rear sets.

Looks like fun!

I sold my hot-rodded Sport last spring for a little less than that. I needed to find the right buyer, he's very happy.
(https://i.ibb.co/cQynkpP/0120181537.jpg) (https://ibb.co/cQynkpP)
This one has a Blackie's big bore kit, 89.5 mm Venolia forged pistons, balanced crank, lightened flywheel, P3 cam, prted heads, 36 mm carbs, Marzochi strada front end, adjustable clip-ons, 450 watt alternator, Dyna ignition. I'm sure I'm forgetting something. It's a riot to ride!

This one at least has a round-barrel engine -- definitely keeps the correct look. IIRC, the one a while back that was a V7 Sport w/ 1000cc motor had a later square-barrel motor.

I should've bought that bike!

That's the bike I was talking about.. Glad to hear it went to a good home,

The ebay bike was built by Cadre Cycle. Anyone know of them?
The Guzzi is tempting, but to keep things in proper perspective:

Looks like it would be a fun bike to ride. Appears super-clean to my untrained eye. Interestingly, as of this writing, only 2 days left and not a single bid. Which begs the question: Asking too much money, or yet another sign of a depressed motorcycle market?
-
It's actually got two days to go. But good question - will anyone bid? Is it already at the limit of what the market will bear? It is winter and just before Christmas, so possibly that's a factor as well.
A better comparison than the Bimoto would be another V7Sport or even the 1000S sold recently.
Here's one we picked apart (nuts and bolt restoration) but the purchaser must not have listened to us.

"Ended" doesn't necessarily mean "sold".

Its the color that is hurting it.

I hadn't noticed it didn't sell. Thanks for pointing that out.

Cadre Cycles is one of a small handful of Guzzi dealers I hear very GOOD things about. The owner came out to the Ohio Rally this fall.

Whenever my old man would see a house, car, or anything grossly overpriced for the market, he'd always say, "their just fishing for a sucker!"

The common link is that they're both islands that are running "f--ken crazy!"   I live on an island. Lean left or lean right for a ride. :thumb:

It DOES look like a fun bike to ride.
But the market will be asking ... for $12,000 can you get a funner bike to ride? You'd have a fun-to-ride SORT OF V7 Sport, but it's not near stock, so you'd really have a fun-to-ride roundfin Guzzi.
And that's what will determine the price ...

There's a sort of a vague connection, which I found out in one of the IOM museums last I was there.
The Pope used to determine who was going to be king in and around Europe when there was no legitimate heir, and he gave the Sicilian kingship to Edmund Crouchback, the second son of Henry III, King of England in the late 1200s so Edmund was called "King of Sicily".
Alexander III was King of Scotland in the late 1200s, and he owned the Isle of Man at that time. The wife of Alexander III was Margaret of England, who was a daughter of King Henry III, and thus was Edmund Crouchback's sister.
So around 1275, when both of these three-legged flags sort of had their origin on coats of arms, the "King of Sicily" and the "King of Scotland and the Isle of Man" were brothers-in-law. That's all I know, and all the museum dude knew, or so he said ...

I wonder how many Sicilians use their distant cousins lovely off shore tax haven ?
If Mr Capone was onto it, the IRS couldn’t have sent him to the big house

Was surprised to see nobody bid on this one. Thought for sure that someone would bid $12,500.00 at the last second; would've been a good price for a very nice bike. As others have said, being offered so close to Christmas didn't help it...
-
The only one that I've seen do a restoration on a V7Sport according to definition was Lynn Crowley. He had worked on his fleet down to the actual nuts & bolts and OEM battery etc. Not sure of the cylinders. He never rode them. He would trailer them to the National Rallies when they were in the MidWest. Museum pieces.
