Title: atomiser shroud
Post by: lazlokovacs on November 28, 2019, 05:50:16 PM
hey everyone

can anyone explain to me how the atomiser shroud ( eg on Lemans III etc) works?

and what are the benefits?

I'm guessing that it's something to do with venturi and pressure and similar performance for less fuel??? but I can't quite get my head around it!

 thanks

theorising on my own question....

it just might be that the shroud masks the aperture where the main jet supplies fuel creating some kind of vortex which better atomises fuel but that's wild speculation....

where are the guzzi nerds to chip in on this? Or have I actually posed a question that no-one knows the answer to???? I can't imagine that's possible...

I believe it increases the pressure drop over the atomizer so that fuel flows through the needle/atomizer combo at smaller throttle openings.

This thread had a discussion of it:

interesting reading

Pete says

the shroud increases the manifold depression above the atomiser orifice allowing leaner jetting but of course this means that more fuel is pushed past the annulus between the needle and atomiser.

I'll think on that

I thought I'd commented on this issue fairly recently.

Sorry not to respond but we've been under severe fire threat for the last few days. Conditions have eased today thank dog but the coast road is still closed and the water bombers are still active. Hopefully I won't have to load the Griso into the van with the cats, photos and important documents. The rest of it can burn if it has to.

Winds have eased, conditions are cooler. Still very Smokey still.

I might go up to the top of the hill and take some pics.
